I'm with you on "band of brothers" What an incredible series!! Did you know that that show was based in reality? The author of the original book Steven Ambrose, took accounts, recollections letters, diaries etc. from real soldiers of the 101st, and put them all into the fictional "easy company" You might also watch "Blackhawk Down"
I was'nt there, but later served in the Rangers, and met a few of those who were. They say the movie's a little different (of course) but stayed remarkably close to the real thing. You'll also want to check out "The Greatest Raid" (I think that's the title) It's another true story about WWII where Rangers were tasked to rescue P.O.W. survivors of the Bataan Death March from the Japanese. The real heros of that event were the POW's and Philipino fighters. The POW's for surviving honest to god hell on earth, and the philipinos for fighting, despite seeing firsthand what would happen to them if they were caught.
I always recommend the reality based movies. They tend to NOT glorify war. It's a truly horrible thing, but seeing will give one a greater appreciation for our servicemen.

Wow (unless I missed it) I can't believe nobody's mentioned Full Metal Jacket, which is my all time favorite, and I personally feel is better than any of the other movies about Vietnam.
I really like Blackhawk Down, one of the few movies where the "good guys" actually lose for a change.
Some of the old John Wayne movies........Sands Of Iwo Jima, In Harm's Way, The Green Berets.......those are pretty good, but typical Hollywood type stuff.

This is about the Civil War, but I thought it was great: The Red Badge of Courage. A few cold-war movies I love are Dr. Strangelove, Failsafe, Seven Days in May, and The Bedford Incident.

How you can watch the anti-war movies is stunning. Look at some of the older ones from the fifties and early sixties to see how the military was honored, rather than the crap like Platoon and Apocalypse Now.
