civilization has blinded our eyes. Getting pregnant is a matter of evolution and it has been happening to mankind from the very begining. Only say for the past 100 years or so the scientific research has made it possible to avoid pregnancy and also people resorted to getting married late. In the bygone period women were pregnant immediately after they started having their periods. So all this is the natural in life cycle and cost & no cost are all the artificially derived activities. I do not say it is correct to get pregnant at 16 but only stating certain realities.

Ok this is what happens.. Some guys get horney and try to crack onto the chick and most of the time succeed because the LADY ACCEPTS! IT is not entirely all because of the guy because the chick normally wants it too and gives in. And if the chick screws up there is ALWAYS the pill so you don't have to have the baby if you don't want to. And they think having a baby will be fine and a blessing and that now they get the "baby bonus" and they will forget on how much it will cost to raise a child. Most people always think i want to make life and then they are so desperate about it they forget about all of there life and what they have planned for there life and just **** someone and then BAM they won't take the pill because they DO want the baby!

It may not be ideal for a girl as young as 16 having a baby but its not impossible if she cant afford a tuition or even if she can she should be promoting her daughter to work really hard at school so she can get ascholarship. My mother could have Aforded to put me into university but also taught me to work treally hard. I graduated high school with honors got a 15,000 scholarship to go to university. while being a teen I did not want to atudy as much as i did i had no choice though my mom made me and if the 16 year teaches her daughter this as well as things like the value of a dollar, I had a paper route at 8and a job of some sort ever since then she will be fine. Alot of moms at any age find teaching these things hard. My mother was detern\mined to make sure I got on the right track and stayed there I just hope and pray my daughter and the one on the way will learn the same thing from me my mom taught me.

It's what the majority in America has chosen for themselves, pure and simple. Do you see any other industrialized country with the same degree of teen pregnancy problem? No! Why? Because they choose to educate their children and do not want to pay for having children raise children. But in the US, God forbid birth control or family planning is mentioned in school! Parents want to be the ones to educate their children on this subject. Well guess what, they are doing a lousy job. The few that do a good job with their own kids, still have to pay tax $$ to support all the rest that don't.
When you are 16 you think you are infallible, that is that nothing bad will happen to you. And you need to talk to teenagers constantly about the risks of having sex and give them the tools to protect themselves because it is part of being young, to rebel and do what they want. For those who think just saying, don't have sex or you will go to hell or die a terrible death, is the answer, they need to learn a thing or two about how teenagers think. I am in my 30's and my only child is 2 yrs old and you better believe I will start talking to him about his body and how it functions from Now!

Because more and more grand parents are raising the kids. Dr. Phil did a whole series on a smart *** 15 year old girl that got pregnant, had the kid, then after that wanted to party more. No one was going to tell her what to do because someone was there to always pick up the pieces and enable her lifestyle. She lied, was lazy and very arrogant.

Society also picks up the tab. If they dont' have a family to help, then there's welfare to make up for it.

For a young person; with all of the diseases out there, plus the risk of pregnancy; to have unprotected sex, they are just flat out stupid, irresponsible and self absorbed. Kids are out of control and we adults have created the problems. Discipline is a part of love and there are some kids that need to be loved a lot.

first of all a 16 year old is not a women she is still a girl. i would say about 95% of 16 yr olds that get pregnant were an accident. they are way too young to even be having sex or understand what the concept of sleeping and being intimate with someone is even less understand the huge possiblities of becoming pregnant they think that a baby will always be a baby but don't see the bigger picture of when it cries when it doesn't want to sleep when it gets sick when you can't find a babysister even less they think about the childs future once it starts growing up and being a kid but you can't expect them to think about these things because they themselves are still children!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Parents should be more responsable.
Why is a 16 year old having sex to begin with? The parents should know and should help prevent it.
This happens especially in low income families where a single parent raises the kids and must work all day and .....
This happens so often in the same families that this is the reason why they dont get better opportunities because they have to stop being kids to be parents so early.
SO SAD!

I often wonder why these young girls do not see all the guys want is sex, why can't you say NO if a guy really likes you he might have more respect for you. Is it worth it to you to either get pregnant or get an abortion, Are they afraid if they say no that they will loose the guy, then they should know that if that's the case hes not worth it. and if you say yes to sex, now your name will go all around that your a easy one and others will want it too. Wake up world.

I don't know where you got your information, but women of different ages are getting pregnant. not all are 16 yrs of age and if so it has a lot to do with ignorance in her part and the boyfriends who always want to be macho, well young men out there being Macho means also supporting your child.

There is a lot of sex shown to them on television, tv and movie stars get pregnant, without marriage (Katie and Tom).

Girls don't think about the expensive of raising a child - Tom and Katie have millions of dollars, they don't have to worry about money. Many girls/guys, may not be able to talk to their parents about sex.

Also, parents are afraid to bring up the subject of babies and sex.
