My hair is dk brown, and I decided I wanted to be blond! So, I went to the salon. I am in Korea, and the only one here is the military shop. I showed them a picture of a blond, but they made my hair bright orange. I was so mortified and to be honest, amused at the situation, that I was just as obliging as I could be and got out of there as quick as I could. On the way home, I got a box of blond hightlighting dye. So, the next day, I highlighted my hair so I could get different tones. It didn't really do much, so I put the stuff all over, thinking I could just make it blond. I also decided to do my eyebrows while I was at it, because I looked very silly with big dark eyebrows and orange hair. Now I have blond eybrows and light orange hair. The blond is concentrated at the scalp, tapering down to orange. I am scared to bleach it anymore, for fear of it falling out. I don't want to go back to dk brown, because I'd at least like a change. Maybe red? But I just don't want orange! HELP!

Oh honey, you made a big mistake by going to the store & buying a box of highlighting dye! The reason why your hair turned orange is because you can't go from dk brown to blonde with just bleaching. The salon did the right thing by bleaching it, but afterwards, they should have put a blonde semi-permanent hair color over top to take out the orange. But now that you colored it yourself from the store, it's hard to color over color, you can only color over bleach or natural hair. And you don't want to bleach your hair again so soon, it will break off. Maybe you will be lucky, & the store bought color was basically bleach without any actually color molecules in it. You can try to go back to the salon & suggest that they put a semi-permanent color over top in a dark blonde or light brown, I don't know what brand they use, but if they have a light color that has a purpleish blueish tint to it, they should used that, it will help to counter-balance the orange. Use a brown eyebrow pencil to fix you blonde eyebrows for now - you don't want to make them anyworse. And don't go red yet, you've got to get this hair problem fixed before you try something new. Now your hair is probably pretty damaged, so I would used Redken Extreme Shampoo & Conditioner & use a hair treatment like Redken All Soft once a week - leave on for 5 mins.

You need to even the color out first. If your roots are blonde, then you need to even out the rest of the hair that is orange, don't put the bleach on the blonde part again, just the orange part, you should get someone that you trust to help you so that it will be put on evenly. After the hair is an even blonde you can put a toner on it to make it look more of a natural blonde. At this point your hair is fixable so be careful. I would have suggested going to a different salon, but I already know that is not possible.Just be very careful and have someone help you, keep a close eye on the color when your redoing it,make sure it is put on evenly and don't let it get lighter then your roots, then you will have another problem. Don't be scared when your hair turns yellow, that's normal, that is what the toner is for. Wait a few weeks before doing anything. Good luck

For God's sake, look what you done.

Your hair was lighter in your roots, cause the heat of the scalp makes the bleach work stronger.
I would suggest you to buy a very ash color. This will neutralize the orange and leave your hair with a slight yellow hue. Use... an ash medium blond, And in your eyebrows too!! OK? and apply the dye first on all your hair, except on your roots, and fifteen minutes before you rinse it, in your roots and eyebrows. Please obey!! and read a little on hair dying, so you don't get this kind of disasters again. Good luck!

Well, you generally can't dye over dyed hair to a lighter color unless you bleach it. Your best bet if you're adamant about a change is to try for red...just choose a darker, more vibrant red to cover up the orange. Good luck, I've had a few scary hair situations in the past!

i think cass' suggestion is great, but in just a few weeks you are going to have brown roots and need to subject your hair to more chemicals. i would be very leery of the all the damage you are causing. reconsider the idea of maybe a light brown so when your roots grow in you don't have to re-dye

you should have gotten the stylist to bleach it first.

a red tone is usually a safety color unless you have a deep tan or a darker shade of skin color. i think it just look weird if you do, but that's just my personal opinion.
