When eating out I always end up using knife, fork & spoon. However when at home I eat with a fork and knife....spoon for soup. I am not a junk food person but when eating pizza, chips with dip, & cookies I use the best tools, what God gave me, my fingers and hands. I hope you get lots of responses and maybe you ask this question because you are doing some type of human behavior experiment. Good luck what ever the reason.

Interesting question...I see many of us do the same - use a knife and fork when eating foods that require cutting, and a fork only when eating anything not requiring a spoon (or knife either).
I live in a multi-cultural environment and it includes also eating with chopsticks, as well as with one's hands (Middle Eastern cultures use their hands (fingers) a lot when eating).
It makes things interesting.
By the way, in other cultures such as Southeast Asian, they often use forks and spoons (but not knives really...), though NOT the same as we in Western cultures do. Their main utensil is the spoon, and they use their fork to push a proper mouthful onto their spoon, and then eat from the spoon.
They feel that stabbing something with a fork, and then thrusting the fork directly into one's mouth is barbaric. Or ar least impolite or uneducated.
Middle Eastern food is eaten similarly with spoons (when they use utensils at all), except that instead of a fork to push the food, they use a piece of bread (usually Nan or Roti, but it could be some other form as well) to accomplish the same objective.
Just a few years ago here in Korea where I live, Koreans hardly knew what a sandwich was, and rarely ate them. But in the past year or 2, sandwiches have become all the rage as a fast, economical meal or snack, and sandwich shops have sprung up everywhere to cash in on the craze.
It's almost as if the locals think they invented them

How ethnocentric. I generally use a knife and fork at home, but equally in my country I could use spoon and fork, fingers or chopsticks either blunt or pointy.
Generally if you are going to eat something using only your fork you would have a knife as well, whether you find you actually pick it up or not.

We use a knife and fork often but since we spent a few months in Thailand we use a fork and spoon much more than we used to.

Knife and Fork most of the time, but depends on what I'm eating. A knife is sometimes optional shall we say :-)

knife and fork or spoon and fork. Rarely just a fork unless a dessert it's easy to cut with the side of the fork & I'm in a fairly informal place.
