I must admit am not fully aware of all as my children are grown up only family members who do keep there children safe are also not fully aware as it seems under a certain height they must have a booster seat even if they are 12 or 13 I do agree safety is very important as too many accidents happen already it is more for interest if those laws are going to be enforced today

I have a child under 12, but as he is taller than 135cm he isnt required by law to use a booster cushion. The new rules seemed to have a lot of people confused, but quite simply if they are under 12 AND under the height limit they need a booster seat, if they are taller than 135cm they dont despite their age.
Responsible parents do seem to have checked out where they stand.

I don't understand what all the fuss is about! Of course car set regulations are a good idea (and no, some people are not sensible enough to do it on their own without it being the law - do you know how often I see babies on parent's laps and older kids totally unrestrained in the back of a car??). I heard about this months ago. And as I knew I would be doing a school run with 4 children under the height & age restrictions both myself and the other mother made sure we had enough carseats and booster seats for all the children. At the weekends when we need more room in the car stick the extra booster seats in the boot. It wasn't a big deal, we just did it.

I don't think there will be enough done about it, there are far too many people I see with young children not even strapped in with a normal seat belt let alone the correct child seat!
It's been in a lot of the shops but I know people who haven't even bothered to read the notices, I know a mother of 6 with another on the way who didn't know about it. It's even been in the Argos catalogue.
I think they should put more emphasis on the fact that it should be done on height and weight rather than age because it has been calculated that under a certain height and weight the child is safer in a specialised restraint.
My parents bought a booster seat for me when they were a fairly new thing out and it also made car travel so much nicer for me because I was more comfortable and I could see out better(it helped a little with my travel sickness too).

It is a good idea that all kids under a certain height must be in a child seat but they have not made the new law very clear i think you get points on your license if caught with a child in your car and no child safety seat

Walk to school if you can (sorry, the environmentalist in me popped out just then).
The booster seat law is there for the safety of everones children. However, does it really need to be a law? Surely common sense is enough for a parent to decide when their child is tall/old enough to not require a booster seat!

It's about time it was made law. Too many times I've seen children jumping around in cars or simply not strapped in.
Do we really think so little of our kids that we have allowed this.
Isn't sad that we need to have the threat of a fine to make us keep our children as safe as we can.

"Are there any exceptions to those guidelines? certain. There are 3 circumstances the position a baby between 3 and 12 years previous might want to shuttle contained in the again of a automobile employing no more effective than an grownup seat belt: •short and espresso journeys made for causes of "unpredicted necessity" (so not on customary college runs, yet you do not prefer to agonize if you're determining on up a chum's baby because he or she has been unexpectedly detained at artwork) •2 different children are already employing restraints contained in the again seat, leaving no room for a third. (in spite of the undeniable fact that, it would want to oftentimes be safer for the youngster to shuttle, interior the front of the automobile, employing the right seat or cushion.) •in taxis as well: •children lower than 3 might want to shuttle contained in the again of a taxi with no particular seat or cushion, as suggested above •In previous vehicles without seat belts - children between 3 and 12 might want to shuttle contained in the again seat, regardless of the reality that the branch for shipping factors out that it really is "not danger-free" •Emergency automobiles, inclusive of ambulances and police vehicles, are exempt"
