Okay well as a response to the girl who thinks pagan's celebrate Satan.. that is not what Pagans are about.

Secondly, its your wedding, do whatever feels rights. A fall wedding is always pretty but Halloween is on a Tuesday so that may be tough. Halloween is not very romantic. Fall wedding would be though. Best of luck!

I have done a few fall weddings and a halloween one as well. Halloween does NOT have to mean spooky. You can have an elegant formal affair on Halloween and use a fall theme.
I would use wine or crimson for the dark red and I would go with a champagne or platinum instead of ivory (Only because Ivory is going to be very close in color to traditional wedding gown. You dont want the entire room decorated in such a way that you no longer stand out).
For decorations you can use fall leaves straight out of the garden/yard and save money and still have elegance. You could even have the wedding outdoors (depending on your weather at that time and the place you wish to have it... as it is halloween I wouldnt do it anywhere heavily populated with trick-or-treaters).

Have fun with it and get a little inventive.

As for pagan ritual and satanic/evil/dark tones.....
Halloween / All Hallow's Eve - A pagan ritual at its roots celebrating the family members that had already passed, remembering them, honoring them. It was also the feast of the "Sun God" because life in older times was based solely on the seasons (fall meant hunkering down for the winter and praying for the sun to return and allow them to have a bountiful year come next spring).
Sounds more like a pagan "memorial day" to me.

I did the New Year's Eve thing so I'm not one to talk negatively about Holiday weddings.

I've know a few people who have done this though and I found the weddings a bit dark and creepy (if you're into that though hey whatever floats your boat.)

If you want elegant I'd pick another weekend without so much baggage... like maybe the first day of fall or something?

I agree about the anniversary thing too (if you have kids)... that's a really good point.

Those are the EXACT colors I had for my wedding on 11/6/4. I wore and ivory wedding dress with deep red roses and lip stick and my husband wore black tux with deep red.

I had fall decorations; different color leaves running down the middle of the reception tables with irredecent beads along with different color mini pumpkins. I found wrought iron hearts painted ivory-filled with thin deep red paper, and hung them in the trees around where the tables were. Had dark red bows on the chairs. Which matched the red rose pedals going down the isle. The center pieces were - rustic looking tall canisters filled with fall color flowers with ivory and deep red ribbon. It was VERY elegant and had many, many compliments.

Congrat and good luck!!

I'm not married or anything but this is my dream wedding I have never wanted the Cinderella wedding so I thought of a nightmare before christmas themed wedding, traditional white dress with a black sash at the waist, crimsom roses, for the groom and the groomsmen the would be in black . Lilies for the bouquet (lilies are my favorite) flower girl would be a black dress with a white sash. Bridesmaids would be in black with veils to resemble a funeral... The cake would be white and black I thought a coffin would have been to dark but what isn't dark in my life? I bought the cake toppers of jack and sally. I hope this helped GOOD LUCK oh a elegant costume party would work too

I book Halloween weddings every year- ivory & dark red is gorgeous, perhaps think cranberry if you don't want to be too costum-y.

One wedding I did all the guests came in costume. It was surreal. Awesome.

BTW, don't listen to the psychos about the satan/halloween thing. It's just not true.

While the wedding is for you, I would also consider how both sides of the family would react to having a Halloween wedding. While a marriage ceremony is a joining of two people, it's also a joining of two families. Would either side be offended? Also, consider how you would view things looking back from the vantage point of your 20 year anniversary. Just a few things to consider before making the decision.

I personally dislike "theme" weddings (they just aren't to my taste) so I would suggest avoiding anything that screams "Halloween." Stick to a harvent concept with the colors you mentioned accented by deep green and a rich, warm orange. You can then use pumpkins and squash without it looking "kitch." Warm apple cider and apple martinis will be nice fall drinks. If you want a nod to the kids' side of the season, you could get away with candy corn or mini trick or treat bags as guest gifts - if everything else is elegant, people will probably think it is a cute touch!

I have two ideas, first my sons stepsister is getting married Halloween and she is dressing up like the corps bride and he like the groom in the movies, the guest are all coming in costume and they will be having a hay-rack ride and traditional Halloween party for the reception. My idea is have the bride maids in orange and the groom men in black. Instead of candles, use jack o lanterns, use trick or treat bags for bird seed bags, flowers could be orange and black with spider webs instead of ribbon and twigs with black cats and witches on them stuck in. Good luck
