Actually, the term comes from the days of brewing...Bridal comes from "bride ale" the ale brewed to celebrate a wedding. Same thing, Honey-moon. A cycle of the moon to ferment Mead for the wedding couple.
Traditionally, a honey moon was for a new couple to consumate their relationship sexually. (assuming they had not beforehand).
Nowadays, if they are lucky, they get to spend some time together and enjoy each other. Usually though, they spend most their time dealing with the costs of the wedding, and writing thank you cards for all the guests, before returning to work.

Actually the honeymoon is a time to relax, get to know one another, enjoy each other's company while away from the pressures of work and family. People generally have fun, go out and make love a lot during their honeymoon. A good honeymoon is a great start to the marriage but love, commitment, honesty, faithfulness and affection is what keeps a marriage going really.

The purpose of a honeymoon is to get a marriage off on the right foot and spend some time alone as man and wife. As far as what they do on a honeymoon? Use your imagination. LOL

to consumate the marriage. In pre victorian england it was traditional for both families to witness this - do you like the idea of your mum and dad watching you and hubby doing it for the first time - so the simple answer is to make sure that you have sex, make babies and secire the genetic line.
