As the year of mfg is off the charts for blue book values, I'd do my homework by searching for that model on ebay and the auto auction websites. Because it is a convertible, it might be worth the hefty price. I'd only consider a sedan deville of that vintage somewhere in the $900-$1500 range. If you can afford the gas, old caddys offer a solid highway machine. Mosty, you have to live with all the silly "luxury" options that stop working on a old caddy.

Well how do you know if it is in mint condition when you haven't even saw it yet? Of course the person is going to tell you it is in mint condition just to make the sell. Go check it out and go from there

Im concerned if I drove the car this far and knew it was good why sell it, additionally where are you going to get the parts? Unless you really like the car and have to have it I would pass.

The car is too old and too big.
In any case, before considering it at all - a good mechanic should check it out and test drive it.
You can pick up a 1990 Volvo for
$3,000.00 and have something that is solid.

I would take it to an independent mechanic to evaulete the conditionon of the car first. It may cost you $50 or so but its definently worth the money.
