Why would a person who is supposed to be the principal representative of the beatitude, "blessed are the peacemakers...," as well as other sayings by Jesus such as "before you see the mote in your brother's eye look at the beam in your own eye" do the contrary to this, and at this juncture in time make remarks that contribute towards further demonizing of Muslims? A person in his position would surely know that it is a current policy of Israeli-US governments to demonize Islam in order to justify their agenda of stealing the oil, and implement the Ersatz (not sure of the spelling) Israeli agenda, and of course, controlling the region.
And what makes jihad an abominable concept while "Just War Theory" accepted in the Catholic doctrine acceptable and worthy?
Can't the Pope see that Muslims have been killed by the hundreds of thousands as a consequence of Israeli/American policies (over 500,000 children in Iraq alone, and by the way look for the notorious reply of Albright, the former US Secretary of state when this point was brought to her attention), the take over of occupied territories by Israel...all of it against interrnational law and UN resolutions, and the pollution of land by depleted uranium weapons, etc, ETC....Well, how can the Pope not see the mote in his own eye, as well as the very blatant crimes of US and remain silent about it? It is like criticizing petty thievery for the sake of gangsterism and heavy criminality...He has taken sides with the likes of Bush and Zionist Jewish lobby.
Having said this, while I can understand protests as expression of disgust, I am sorry and ashamed for the acts of violence that have occured.

I think someobody of his stature should be more responsible then that. I read what he said and i don't see the point in him quoting what he did, other then to depict islam as evil and violent.
I do agree with you that the bombings of churches is over the top, or attacking any christian for that matter.
However, i do support peacefull protests.
Whenever someone flares public sentiments, there is bound to be violence. Take the rodney king riots, for example. Muslims as everyone else, love their religion and their prophet. Unfortunately flaring sentiments cause some people to go too far, which is bound to happen, muslims or not.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Allah has ordered us to invite people for the good, and forbid what is wrong:
[104Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: They are the ones to attain felicity.] (Chapter #3, Verse #104)
and Allah has cursed people who unbelieved from children of israel for neglecting this order:
[78Curses were pronounced on those among the Children of Israel who rejected Faith, by the tongue of David and of Jesus the son of Mary: because they disobeyed and persisted in excesses.
79Nor did they (usually) forbid one another the iniquities which they committed: evil indeed were the deeds which they did.] (Chapter #, Verse # 78, 79)
So the pope said false about our religion and our prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him), so we must forbid it, and stop him from saying so.

i don't get this argument that it was "just" a quote. he quoted words to reflect how he feels. he obviously hates Muslims and used a quote from an evil man to back it up. the pope is not innocent here, like he stepped in sh*t by accident when he wasn't looking... he chose the quote deliberately and I'm sure he still believes in it based on his weak apology.

If I insult your mother of father what will you do? We love our God (Allah), our religion, our prophets n specially our prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) more than our family or our self. So, its normal it will hurt us if you insult our religion! No one has the right to insult another religion! And specially someone like a pope! What will you do if I insult Jesus? Ask yourself the question.... Will you be happy if I insult Jesus or your religion? Sorry if I have hurts you in any way...
