I don't understand the connection.
How did the sacrifice of the innocent pay for the sins of the guilty?
This conclusion doesn't seem to jibe with the message of Jesus?

The way I understand the message, in my own words is this.
God is within all of us. To show your love to god, you must show love to others. The love of others is God's love returned.
Basically, I see the message as a basic philosophy on existence.
Albeit... I could go into much more depth as to what I take from it.

Don't think of this in the sense that our guilt was transferred to Jesus in the sense that a judge would declare one person guilty of another person's deeds--although in essence this was the effect. Think of it as Jesus paying a debt on our behalf that God demanded but that we can't pay on our own. God demands that we be perfect to satisfy Him--and under Old Testament Law, if a person kept all points of the Law but broke one, it didn't matter what point of the Law was broken, that person was still a lawbreaker. Jesus' perfect life provided for us a perfect sacrifice to God the Father so that through Jesus' payment on our behalf, Jesus acts as our mediator between us and God (1 Timothy 2:5). Think of this like one person being short on money and other person footing the bill for them--that's what Jesus did for us. We couldn't pay, He could, so He paid the Father on our behalf, and only by accepting Jesus as our mediator between us and God can we satisfy the Father's demands for total payment for sin in our lives. Only by accepting Jesus' payment on our behalf can we pay our debt to the Father and satisfy Him and have the debt of our sin cancelled. There is no other way that the Father has provided for our salvation. (John 14:6; Ephesians 2:8-9) That's the very reason Jesus came. (John 3:16)

I agree the connection is weird.
Questions about Jesus, or Questions designed to convert or recruit people to Jesus (or even away from Jesus for that matter)are simply a waste of time. Ditto for being "saved" or trying to clarify minute points of scripture when there are so many different interpretations and editions of text. People have already decided for the most part if they believe in the fiction written in the bible. People who feel God talks to them have psychological problems because hearing voices is a psychological illness. All the major world religions have issues like this.

Nice question! What exactly was the message of Jesus, and how did that not jibe with his sacrifice?
Sorry to answer a question with a question, but I want to understand where you are coming from.

Sacrifice of innocent blood of lambs, were used by Israel as a way to wash sins committed up to the day of the sacrifice. Sin is breaking the laws (613) and 10 commandments!
Christ who lived a perfect life was our sacrifice for all sin past and present and future!
Because of him sin can be removed!
The catch is you have to accept him as your Savior, or you sins remain your own!
He lived, taught, was perfect, died at the hands of those he was sent to rule, was rejected, went to hell, for all sins of the world, (paid the full price for sin) resurrected, over came death, and is now at the end to rule the earth in the (so called) flesh!

Blood represented life and was very sacred in the Hebrew culture. Blood sacrifices were offered to receive forgiveness for their sins. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for all time since the Blood Of God was far superior to any other sacrifice. God in his infinite wisdom knew that we could never offer enough blood sacrifices to cover our sins, but he loved us so much he could not require us to pay that price so he took the punishment upon himself in the form of His only begotten Son, Jesus.
How did Jesus' sacrifices absolve us from sin. That is a mystery beyond our human comprehension. I am extremely thankful that he did die for us. I hope to thank him in person, I do not claim to be saved yet, but I am striving for it.

The same way that Osiris,Mistrha, and Dionisis died for "the people" about 1500 years before christ, but Christianity fails to mention them.......??? i dont get it either.
if anything take the Morals and values out of that bible instead of the 2000 years of fallacy.
