YES anxiety can cause chest pain. I've got sooo many medical bills due to this, i would think i was having a heart attack and go to the emergency room and they would check my heart and it would be fine and they would give me anxiety meds and i would get ok. Now i am on medications all the time for it. Just have it checked out and if its not ur heart you have to learn to talk yourself out of these anxiety attacks.
Spasms is pain and palpitations are when ur heart isnt beating regular.
I just said a silent prayer for you for i know what you are going through! God bless and get well soon!

Yes anxiety can absolutely cause chest pain. I know this because I've been there. But chest pain can of course be an indication of something a lot more serious (such as heart problems, ect..) so you might want to see someone about it. But in my experience if you are going through something really stressful and you struggle with anxiety chest pain can definitely be present. Some people even suffer from panic attacks due to severe anxiety and also experience chest pains. Hope this helps a little. Good luck and hope you feel better!

Friend, I really wish I could answer this question. But I have a problem with anxiety and have had seizures before, and I think they're all tied together with an underlying fear of death or something. I don't know what's going on with me, but I wish somebody could tell me. I get so scared sometimes for no reason and just feel like I'm about to seriously die. Hospitals or medical talk seem to trigger my symptoms. I think that if I ever had to have any kind of surgery or anesthesia, I would scare myself into death. Sounds far-fetched I know but your question really caught my attention. I get such bad anxiety sometimes that I get chest pains as well. Only I don't know if the chest pains are caused from the anxiety, or I am just really nervous/anxious and due to my fear only THINK I'm about to have a heart attack. I don't know. It's very complex and its very scarey.
If anyone has any insight to my condition, whatever it is, or if you have a similar story, please e-mail me....galloway_777@yahoo

Yes, anxiety can cause all of the symptoms you have described.
The shortness of breath is the most common, the chest pain can be attributed to the shortness of breath also.
One must be careful, it is difficult to distinguish sometimes the difference between an anxiety attack and true cardiac issues. Please consult with your health care provider on all of these symptoms.
Palpitations are possible irregular heartbeats one is able to feel. It may feel as if the heart is "jumping" around within the chest cavity. Here again it is advisable to consult with your health care provider.

Hi there.
Yup, you're having a panic attack by the sound of it. The symptoms you're describing sound incredibly similar to my own from a few years back (I suffered from them for about 2 years before the drugs took over & controlled them).
If it is a panic episode you're having then you need to learn to control it asap & there's plenty of stuff on-line about panic disorders etc to help you with this). These things are scary: I know. I think that my wife & I ended up at a hospital about 12 or more times, with me being checked out to make sure that I wasn't having a heart attack.
The biggest thing about panic attacks is the fear of the fear of having another, where you don't have a support system around you to help you feel 'secure'.
Don't feel that you're losing your mind though: about 8% of the population suffer from them so you're not alone.
If you want any more insight drop me a mail at david@alloffice.co.za & I'll try to help.
Bye for now.
