Has she been around something thats left a smell on her fur?
MOst cats are very clean but my sis has a smelly one, an old alley cat that never grooms herself but we recognise she's strange.
My cat has smelly feet even though she cleans them all the time. But when she snuggles up to me in bed I can smell them, eeww.
Anal glands cud be a problem but usually these are uncomfortable for an animal and u will see them doing things like dragging their bums to try to fix it.
Try a pet grooming service, their trained to do the job, if it persists after that, take her to the vet.
OH i just remembered, during the winter my cat eats somethign outside that gives her the WORST breathe
once summer comes, it doesnt happen
hope all this might help

Take the cat to someone who can give him a bath. He really may also have an infection somewhere (its mouth and he's licking himself with it?). Really, it ain't doing him any good and it ain't gonna do you any good, either. Just make sure that the water is about room temperature and be ready to have a major fight on your hands! Use very, very mild baby shampoo and some very, very mild conditioner afterward and wrap him in a towel and rub him dry. Keep him from going outside until he's fully dry. Ya really gotta do it; ain't' no getting around it. Ain't no other way.

I've never heard of a cat smelling bad before, but anyway, are you sure its not coming from its anal glands? They can become impacted and infected and smell pretty bad.
If its just dirty and a bath is out, they have baby wipes type things at the store for pets, you just wipe your pet down, and they do have dry shampoo for cats.

Pets shouldnt stink, it may have an ear or skin infection. Look in it's ears and see if you see any black or white build up, check under it's belly to see if the skin is red/bumpy. If it's an un-neutered male that may be the problem too.

It's possibly diet related. Check with the vet to rule out a health problem, and then discuss a diet change.

Smelly cat, smelly cat
What are they feeding you?
Smelly cat, smelly cat
It's not your fault
They won't take you to the vet
You're obviously not their favourite pet
You may not be a bed of roses
And you're no friend to those with noses

When you take a bath & wash your clothes, the cat will smell better.

It depends on what kind of smell it is, my cat once in awhile will express her anal sacs, it sounds gross but she does it when she get upset. I don't know why, but believe me if it was that smell u would know it, it is the worse smell ever, check the ears, is he fixed? if its smells by the butt then it may be. his sacs.
