I've never been in a relationship before, and tried to find someone, but never could. I've already given that up, but now i don't even look for a relationship, because love seems like its all about pain and rejection every time, so i avoid trying to get in to a relationship so i don't have to put up with rejection ever again. Is the fact that knowing you're never going to get rejected again lead to a happier life? I always get lame responses from people like, "don't worry, you'll find someone someday."
But my love life is more hopeless than anything, so besides love what else is there?

Life is what there is. Keep living and surround yourself with friends who love you. Pursue your life and be successful in your own right. Don't look for someone because it doesn't work that way anyway. Also, being independent means not finding someone to "take you away from your life." We are suppose to be with people who enhance our lives not bring us down. Making a leap into a relationship means departing from the safety and security of our single lives and leaving us open for hurt. Avoiding a relationship protects us from hurt. But if you don't analyze it and continue with your happy life, an admirer just might show up someday. I'm not trying to be idealistic. You know what? You will end up with friends who have relationships or marriages that will end, so everyone goes through ups and downs. In the end, if you can't find that special romantic person, just stay open to love. Live your life and leave this life at least having loved others and letting them love you (romance or not)!!! P.S. - A good thing about being single is you can throw clothes around the house; eat in bed; go an extra few days shaving your legs (if you are a gal), and on and on!!!

I think it's the opposite. I think a key to happiness is finding that person you want to spend the rest of your life with not avoiding it. I did the whole single thing for a while, but in the end I only became truly happy when I met my future fiancee.

Ohhhh man have I had that problem, well up until last year that is...and when i thought i found a good one, one i just about fell inlove with and thought i could spend the rest of my life with, he told me he couldn't be in a relationship at that time. I died. The pain was absolutely unbearable, and yes, like you said, many times love is about pain and rejection. That is until I found a love so pure, that reaches to the depths of the sea. It is a love bond that I can now never be sepereated from. This love can only be shared with one alone, and that is the love that I share with God, and the love he shares with me. He will never leave me because he is in me.
The worldly love I once wanted, the kind that you might see in Disney movies with Cinderella and her prince, I no longer crave like i once did. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have another beings arms cradeled around while I lay sleeping, but I can still feel "whole" with out it. If the Lord will bring some other being into my life, I'll never know, but I am fine with out the guy!

i use to think that way, and all of a sudden I bumped into a guy I fell deeply in love with when I least expect it. people say things like you'll find that special someone someday because it always happens. yeh relationships suck sometimes, but do you ever wonder why people will put up with relationship probs, cuz theres something in a relationship thats well worth it. and as far as anything besides love, there's nothing else, dont you know, love makes the world go round.

staying by yourself is no fun either. You are still living with rejection. The rejection is coming from yourself. I have stopped looking for 10 ys. and counting. Live sucks and started looking again even though it is half hearted looking. I'm still looking. I may have found some one, we are talking and that is a start.
Living alone on has some advantages but not many.
Take from an old guy that has been there and lived it.
No one can make you date that is totally up to you.

Being alone is a horrible time, Humans are social beings. We are meant to be with others as friends and lovers. That's why people will cling to a horrible relationship, just so they don't have to be alone. Fake love is better than no love at all. Try not to think of it in terms of how long it will last, that will come later. Think of it as two people who share a mutual love, a feeling that satisfies their needs as they are now. This may be a lasting love, It may not be. If you stop looking you may never find anything at all.

one doesn't need to have a relationship to have happiness, but it can help with your loneliness if you did have a relationship.
Be patient you will find the right relationship, just be carefull of choosing the right person,
just be yourself , if you have someone in mind, then try hanging out with him/her and be friends from the heart.
