I am a green card holder. And I am waiting for the result of my US citizenship application. If I get married with a foreigner, will my application be affected? Thanks!

Thank you very much for the answers! But even if we get married first, I can still sponsor her greencard after I receive citizenship and there is no quota. Is that correct?

No it wikk not be affected so long as You can support him while his paper work is being summited You can get married in this country to whom ever you want. you just have to be ready financially resposible for the spouse until they get a green card that is if you are a permanent resident in this country. But I would wait until I have my citizenship before I start a marriage when your situation is still up in the air things do change as laws change on immigration almost monthly what was allowed 30 days ago may nor be allowed next month . Think about your situation first before you take the plung.

With apologies for the prior answer, immigrations laws do not change often. They are the same as they were when the INA was revised in 1996.

You can get married, of course. Then you must petition (I-130) for your wife's immigrant visa. If you wait until you get your citizenship to file the petition, it will be much, much faster since there is no numerical limit on spouses of US citizens, but there is on LPRs.

No your application will not be affected. However, I would recommend marrying the foreigner after you have become a U.S. citizen. Once you have become a citizen, it will be much easier for you to get a green card for the foreigner spouse.
