You can start planning as early as you like. Just dont make any deposits or buy any dresses etc too early a business can go out of business in 2 months just as easily as it can in 18. Dresses cycle in and out theyre right. So if you like one you see now and you KNOW it is what you want then make sure you tell the dress shop so that they can try to keep some in stock or so you can at least get a photo of it to show to a seamstress in case it DOES cycle out.
As for themes, they can be fun, but if you are having that hard of a time selecting one dont feel pressured to use a theme at all. You might be surprised how limiting a theme could actually be.
Just have fun with it.

I don't get this new obsession with "theme" weddings. Isn't the wedding theme good enough? Be careful pairing black and silver together, it has to be done tastefully or your wedding will end up looking like a bad poster from the 80s. Obviously roses are right out the window with those colors. I agree with the person who advised you to wait until next year to start planning. Dresses are discontinued on a regular basis, so are shoes and invitations. Halls burn down, go out of business, and change names. Good luck.

This is not meant to be mean, but HONEST: It is WAY too early to plan a May 2008 wedding. You should start your planning at 12-14 months beforehand, MAXIMUM.
Dresses get discontinued, your tastes and priorities will change, catering prices change, potential bridesmaid friends come and go, and banquet halls change ownership. You don't want to have ANY of these nightmares going on in your planning.
The only thing you should be doing right now is socking away money. Meet you back here for your actual planning, which should start around May 2007!

is there anything that you really love? a hobby? something that is really significant to you as a couple? where you first met? that could be a theme --for some the theme is a color. or a place. or a season. or a flower. or a design.
you could have a theme of the colors of the bouquets that add color --and the place. . .
and silver --you could do silver and black for everything --programs, favors, invitations. . .
best of luck to you. . .

I'm a florist, and my niece just got married a few weeks ago so I did her wedding flowers as my gift to them. The bridesmaids dresses were wine colored, the ushers were dressed in black tuxes and the Maid of Honor had a silver dress. She chose wine, white and mauve flowers, and with the mauve and silver ribbons and babies breath the flowers turned out beautiful, with a victorian look.

by way of fact she is youthful, i'd understand her desires. She desires to be responsive to you extra first hand. in case you incredibly do love her, you will anticipate her. She nonetheless has lots to learn approximately life. the determination making component to the strategies does no longer completely strengthen till 20 or 21. you're already there. She isn't. wait and notice. do no longer rush her and proceed to understand her values and those your father raised you with. YOur Father's desires are very clever. permit her journey some training previous extreme college. in any different case she would be apologetic approximately on no account taking the possibility. as quickly as you're married, babies regularly come quickly. I additionally be responsive to how men are. (no offense) and how they burn with a choose for delight. It takes a actual guy to place it on carry for the only which you like. Be that style of a guy! she will love you each and every and all the extra for it.

You don't have to have a theme at all, keep your colours down to three at max - or it gets hellishly complicated trying to decide what colour each and everything should be, and go with what you like. Simple as.
