As far as I'm concerned there aren't any true inconsistencies in the Bible. True - one apostle may have recorded details that another left out, one apostle may have used a man's Jewish name while another used his Greek name, and other confusing things like that but if you search out each supposed inconsistency you will realize that the Bible is a true, factual document. Many people want to point out things that seem inconsistent without doing research to see if they really are or if there is another explanation. Many things look contradictory based solely on face-value including some scientific theories but after a little research, a more complete definition clears up such "inconsistencies" in the Biblical and secular communities. And no, I don't mean how a certain church twists the Bible or interprets it - I mean real research to see if there is a true inconsistency. To this day I've still not found one without a plausible, logical explanation after a little research.

It would take a while to go through each item in the link, but I can assure you that nine that I read are in truth contradictions. I have come across many people who have tried to point to contradictions in the Bible, and none have been valid.
The "contradictions" tend to be either verses taken totally out of context, or things like that.
Anyone reading the Bible with an honest spirit will see that it is a very consistent book and that it is actually amazingly accurate in things like scientific principles that were not even known at the time when we have proof that the books were wriiten.
If you have really felt doubt doubt from this, I would encourage you to keep reading and studying and dicussing the bible. I assure you that if you check into it further you will find that these contradictions are in truth unfounded.
Best wishes.
.
One example form link:
Should we tell lies?
Exodus 20:16 "Thou shalt not bear false witness."
Proverbs 12:22 "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord."
vs.
I Kings 22:23 "The Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee."
II Thessalonians 2:11 "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie."
NONE of these are contradictory. we are not told to lie in any of these verses.

There are no contradictions, only ambiguities in translations from oral tradition, to Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.
As far as inconsistencies, anyone who ever investigates anything, (Detectives & crime, Lawyers & evidence) will tell you that when they interview and interrogate different witnesses or participants in an event, if they get the EXACT same narrative from all parties, the investigators will be highly suspicious. It is considered to have been a "coached" or "rehersed" response, and should not be trusted on its own without substantial corroberation by evidence.
People who spend their time knocking Christianity have nothing, so this is THEIR RELIGION!
It is all a matter of where one places his/her FAITH.

Huh, a website advocating freedom from religion is trying to cast doubt about a religious book. I mean, they must be presenting an totally unbiased viewpoint right? In no way shape or form could they be trying to sway any ones opinion. Whether you believe in the bible, koran,or torah or not is up to you. If you want to make an informed decision go to an unbiased website. Talk to a priest, rabbi, imam or the leader of the religion, then find someone who opposes it and talk to them. Get both sides viewpoints and don't just blindly read something because someone provided a link to it.

never seen a contradiction that was not taken out of context itself... I think that would be interesting... I also would like to know why someone who does not believe in Christ and thus does not have the Holy Spirit thinks that they even have the ability to understand the Bible?

It's easy to pick scripture from here and there and then call them inconsistant. Most of them are taken completely out of context. You would have to read the whole story to understand what is really being said. Not only that, but once you receive the Holy Spirit, your "spiritual eyes" are opened. A lot of scripture is foolishness to non believers because they are seeing it with their carnal eyes and not spiritual eyes, therefor it makes no sence to them.

For every inconsistancy you find, no matter how blatent and obvious, there will be those that will tell you that's not what it "really" means. You'll be handed a cookie, patted on your head, and told the real meaning. (which will change according to the person that is explaining it)
Read "Chicken Soup for the Soul." Any of them. You will find more spiritual meaning there, I guarantee it.
