what I mean is he won't eat anything he has to use his teeth with. I had him checked out by the ped. doc. and they say his teeth are fine, but he'll only eat like canned food like chef boyardee and stuff like that where he just swallows withough chewing. I have to kinda mush up his food like a "baby". Someone please help!

Stop doing that. You are feeding this behavior. (no pun intended) When he gets hungry enough, he will eat what you give him. Make sure the pieces are not hard and cooked well and cut up very small.

It could be that he has some type of aversion to certain textures. I'd have him evaluated by a Speech Therapist through Early Intervention Services. (Speech therapists not only work with speech; they can also evaluate problems with chewing, swallowing, textures, tongue placement issues, oral-motor weakness, ect). The evaluation is free, as well as services if there is a problem, so you have nothing to lose. I think it would put your mind at ease, to say the least. It's possible that it's a phase, but it's better to be 'safe than sorry', just in case he does have some kind of chewing difficulty or sensory issue. The therapy could make a world of difference. Good luck!

Probably just a stage he's going through. All kids do something, some stop feeding themselves, and want to be fed. Ask him why he doesn't want to eat solid food. Try doing a little reverse psychology, whatever you guys are eating, over exaggerate how good it is. Try and get him to ask for some, but let him ask. Make it out like he's really missing out. Then explain that it's big people food.....you get the idea.
It seems at that age, the more of a big deal you make out of something-like you have to eat this, please eat this, the more they resist if they know it's bugging you. Good luck

Stop mushing up his food. Give him his food the way it is cooked and tell him either he eats it or he doesn't eat it, his choice. It may take a couple of meals for him to get the hint but he won't starve to death...

Just let it go. There are lots of healthy mushy foods out there. He'll grow out of this stage he is going through. If you make a big deal out of it, you'll make things worse.

i think he may just like the texture of those kinds of food. he probably likes the feeling of how it goes down his throat. he'll probably grow out of it.

I'd try making the food rubbery..Then it won't be solid.
