If they ask where you see yourself in 3 or 5 years or whatever, always say the next position higher. That way you look ambitious, but not like you're trying to take over the company.

Generally a prospective employer is looking for answers that fit in with the way the company thinks. As to your future plans, always answer with at least the next grade or two above that which you are applying for.

What future plans? Yours?
Or is it the the future, future plans, in the world?
Easy really, if you don't know what is your future plans, you are in for a surprise.
As for the world, well this one is an easier one to answer really.
The way it is going, their is no future.

Ask them how a successful applicant would be situated in their company in 3-5 years to show that you're also considering your career development.

Depends on the job. What is the company goal / vision? Usually there is something about helping others or making a difference at something. Just put it in your own words and make it more about yourself.
