You have the right under the Fair Credit Reporting Act to request that a company not contact you by phone, even if you legitimately owe them money (the debt is still your responsibility, obviously, but they can't call you). You have to make your request in writing, but once you have you can use it to scare them just like you can scare telemarketers with the do-not-call list. Ask for their name and employee number! Fight back!

Well, it is usually someone getting paid at or just above minimum wage; the only way they can feel good about their job is to take the moral high ground with the people they call. I doubt most of those people making the calls actually pay their own bills on time...

As someone who formerly worked in a debt collection call centre (and HATED every minute of it) I'd suggest reporting the company for harassment. Yes, it is your responsibility to pay your bills, but sometimes being harassed and hounded just makes things worse. I hated having to phone people who were in debt and ask them for money, so I quit. They are all b******s. Report them.

They have no right to scold you. It's against the law. You should report the company to the BBB.

Pay your bills.

It's their job to harass you, and if you had paid them in the first place, they wouldn't have to bother you now.
