uhhmm cause this is for school and i really need it now

they were no good here in 1955 as TV didn't start to broadcast till 1956 so very few people had them ---I'm in Australia

I owned one in 1955 in England ! so did a few thousand other people !!Sorry I know that is not the answer you are looking for to find the answer you must look up the bureau of statistics for the country you are interested in good luck !!

Very few as basically BBC TV was only getting started and most people only had a wireless.Some people didnt have electricity.TV sets were very expensive and unreliable (valves going,getting hot.no transisters or micro chips then).Very few transmitters up and running at that time.I would guess roughly one tv per 500 people.
