True Christianity is about suffering and self sacrifice. The televangalists(many but not all) have made it about getting gifts and pleasure. Being a Christian is a hard road to travel.

The world would never become a better world with man's effort to prove that other people are wrong, or to eleiminate people who do wrong. How sad that we use this forum to say that the Christians are wrong, the non-Christians are wrong, the atheists are wrong!...
Then who are right? The criticisers? The silent masses? The dead?
Perhaps, the positive, the reasonable and the peaceful way for a better world is that each individual among us should judge our own self and make our self better than yesterday. And let the administrative institutions taking care of bad people.
If the solution for world peace is only a sort of persistent self-improvement, then what is the use of this forum? May be:
1. Calling for the cease of outdated struggles among various tribes.
2. Introducing the teachings of the Messengers of the One True God. (This is the foundation for self-improvemnt).
3. Putting selfless love into personal practice.
4. Proving the positive effect of cooperation, love, unity.
5. Sharing the human achievements on the way to world peace.
I would greatly appreciate other proposals for this purpose.

I was raised a Christian, and I can tell you what they claim to do and believe. I am now a Pagan because of what I observed that they actually did and believed. The vast majority of Christians have never read the Bible, most Churches actively discourage it. The congregation goes to Church to be told by the Priest what the Bible says, so they don't need to look for themselves. I've seen supposed Bible study classes where the kids were being drilled in the ability to find specific verses in the book as fast as possible, with no thought given to meaning or context. I've seen instructional booklets on how to emotionally bully people into coming to Church or giving money. I've had Christians start screaming obscenities at me for pointing out that the things they were saying was in the Bible weren't actually there. Once, up in Austin some Wiccan covens had gotten together in a park for a Solstice celebration and a bunch of Christians came and started throwing rocks at them specifically to disrupt and ruin the service. So that, as best I can tell, is how Christians worship their God.

Reality check 1: Christians are human (newsflash!) and do step out of line and show an ugly side once in a while.
Reality check 2: The media is not our friend. When the above happens, it is all over TV like last night's ESPN highlights and suddenly a few extremists represent millions of faithful, loving, helping neighbors.
Reality check 3: Many Christians don't get it. You're right. You can't go to church for fire insurance. If you don't live out the message, if it doesn't extend beyond the walls of the church, it is useless. We're working on that as an eccumenical body. The fact that Christ has not yet returned is proof that we're still a work in progress. Thanks for your patience, and hopefully the fact that you understand this shows someday you may be standing beside us worshipping in the true spirit.

Worship = worTHship. It is the identification and acknowledgement of what we hold as WORTH.
The first # is stunning in so far as you have succinctly summarized everything Christianity is NOT.
Personal pleasure - not if you try loving everybogy.
Everything you find - not w/ the 10C and Sermon on the Mount
Little worshipping of God - hard judgement to make. I believe God reserved it for the deity.
Under grace...attitude. Please read the NT and you will see that is exactly what Paul scoffs, scorns, and scorches as the misguided taunts of unbelievers.
You are correct in that believing something is not worship. I believe you might benefit from reading the NT...all of it.

Christian = Follower of Jesus Christ and His teachings.
I can tell by your post that you are not a Christian, therefore you would not know what is meant when I say we worship God in Spirit and in truth.
You have based your opinions on what others have said.
Perhaps if you would spend a little time getting to know the relationship that God / Jesus is seeking you for...you would know how we as Christian worship.
Just because someone claims to be a Christian...doesn't mean they are...if I'm standing in the garage, doesn't mean I'm a car.
You can tell the tree by the fruit. Galatians 5.
Check it out for yourself.
If you decided to go to a Church for your research, may I suggest a Non-denominational?
Grace to you and God Bless!

As a Christian I cannot imagine such vain thinking. For me to not worship and praise my living Savior, my Father in Heaven, and to know the stirring within me is of the Holy Spirit, would be tantamount to having no faith at all. For those who can so shamelessly say, "i'm under grace so I can do what I want and all is well" - they surely have not met and enjoyed the personal relationship that Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God has to offer us.

It's all in the truth that is sought out and a heart willing to hear. Most people believe what their parents teach them and that's where this comes from. Sin if you want to there are no consequences Jesus paid the price and we owe nothing for what we do attitude.
The time comes when all will bow to the savior Yahshua Messiah and see that they must repent and turn from this way of sin. To the keeping of the 613 laws of our Father Yahweh.

It seems as though you really don't understand what Christianity is all about... worshiping God is a daily act but we are still human and will make mistakes

There are many who claim to follow Jesus but as christians we are required to take up our cross and follow Him. If we truly love God we will be motivated to live a life that pleases Him. We can never be perfect (and that is why we need Jesus) but we can certainly serve Him with all our heart and do our best. This is a sign of a true conversion to Christ.
Just as the Bible says in the book of James - 'Faith without works is dead.' If someone truly has faith in God and has Christ in his life his life will be changed for the better and it will be able to be seen by others. I think God can be worshipped in many ways. It is an attitude of thankfulness and adoration in your heart - It may be through prayer or worship but maybe even in something as simple as admiring the creation of God and carrying out a selfless act of love in the name of Jesus.
The following is a teaching in the Bible from the book of James Chapter 1
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
26 If anyone among you[b] thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. 27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
I guess the christian walk is not as easy as some would like to think. True christianity is a daily challenge.
