I'm currently taking 100mg a day of the liquid and the joint pain is the worst in the mornings. I've been on Methadone before & never had this. Sometimes the pain is so bad I can hardly move my arm or knee or fingers or which ever it is that's hurting at that time. If anyone has any ideas or has been through this I'd really love an answer. I'm not sure if maybe my dose needs increased or lowered or what please help?

If you are on the program at the clinic then you can consider some of these reasons ...the new methadone generic formula may be different then what you have had in the past, this is also happens in the first month if your not leveled out on your dose, or if you are still using..
You could find out the exact brand you are being given, write it down and look it up or get a print out at CVS for side effects.
Depending on where you are, the clinic staff is usually on overload and your counselor sees so many people she or he does not have the resources to treat you as an individual. Too often people use this to methodically increase their dose. In retrospect it is just addict behavior.
There is a price. and that is when it is time to detox , FYI, clinics do not often oversee this appropriately they can not because only you know how you feel. (hey and they do benefit form you remaining)The least painful and best way takes time to explain if you are interested.
For now. do not believe them if you develop panic attacks, or swollen legs, confusion, apathy and they say its not from methadone........I am going to stop there.
Email me anytime.... the urine screening, the daily shuffle, the.........it is good that you are working in a direction to better the situation....better off on methadone then out there junkin' it, but methadone sucks .....and unless you are going to spread the virus or jack someone, or know you will immediatly go off runnin' and do not want to ever be clean, or stll need to be part of a scene (the clinic is a scene)......plan to detox down the road correctly....if you do not take the time to do it correctly 100mg at least a year .... you will be back

.DO NOT EVER FORGET THIS PAIN AND HOW YOU FEEL ,it will come in handy some day..

I have taken Methadone for chronic back pain.

It's possible that the pain is from withdrawal - this pain can be very severe. What is your dosing schedule? Let's say you take it every four hours during the day, then go eight hours during the night without, you could suffer from withdrawal when you wake up.

This is just a possibility. I'm certainly not an expert =:)

Joint pain or stiffness of the joint may be caused by overexertion, injuries, arthritis, muscle pain, bursitis and other diseases. Depending on the cause of the joint pain, joints on both sides of the body and small or large joints may be affected. Some types of joint pains can be completely cured but for other types of joint pain (like pain caused by osteoarthritis), treatment will only reduce the pain. as a recovered opiate addict myself... i can tell you that pain you are describing is common in opiate addicts... it was the worst part of not having the drug in my system! mine was and still is mainly in my legs... just awful. i still have it and have been sober for 3 years, but neurontin helps a lot. you gotta kick the methadone, though... seriously..
