One problem is that even though it may be called tourist season, you are still not allowed to shoot the tourists. (Just kidding)

Around here one problem is that a lot of jobs are created but most of them pay low wages. And rather than create better quality jobs to entice long-term employees, the employers would rather hire workers from overseas that do not dare complain and will work for a relatively low wage.

Another problem is that the property values increase at an unrealistic rate as do the property taxes. But at least the tourists do pay most of the other taxes.

Pollution can be a big problem if the country receiving the tourists is ill equipt to handle it.. Pattaya in Thailand became a hugely popular place after the Vietnam war.. It was just a small fishing village,, Now it is a major tourist attraction and rightly so... The Thais have come to grips with the problem now but it is stiill hard work..

I did a very similar assignment in school. The security risk is a huge factor, the amount of people who get into the country and then work illegally etc. Also if you get into specifics, things like cruise ships actually cost more then they are worth. The port are huge expenses to run ant the people on the boat spend very little money on shore, most of their money is spent on the boat.

This is similar with flying, 80% of a tourists money is spent on travel and hotels, not that much money reaches the local business.
