Some children have nosebleeds because there is a thin lining in the nostrils and some children's lining is so thin that the veins under the lining can bust when the blood pressure is raised through exercise or other stimulus. A doctor's office visit can fix the problem, the doctor will apply a chemical on the lining of the nostrils with a cotton swab (like a large Q-Tip), which will essentially 'burn' the lining and make scarring tissue which will thicken the lining, and the 'burn' will also thicken the walls of the veins in that area.
I had them as a child and the doctor's office visit worked.

I used to have the same thing when I was a kid. I'd just be sitting somewhere and BAM, blood would start pouring out. I got accused of picking my nose by teachers all the time. They'd get mad if I argued that I wasn't and call my mom in. She'd explain and I'd get an apology. I had a couple of really bad ones. Woke up once to find my pillow completely soaked. Doctors talked about cauterizing my nasal passages and sinuses, but it never happened. Eventually I just outgrew it. I never really understood what caused it. I only know it isn't an uncommon problem in children... and just like me, they tend to outgrow it.

Nose bleeds occur if you blow your nose repeatedly. You break small blood vessels in your nose, which can then cause them. They also occur if your house has low humidity (under 20%) in the winter. Buy a humidifier for the room to get it up to 40% humidity.

i don't think that's true and that it's only a superstitious. it could be that your child is not eating enough fruits and veggies. i used to get nose bleeds and it was because of my diet.
