All depends on the scenario, and your processor/memory. I finished the first Conquest scenario on a 2 GHz/1 GB in about 6 hours. Mostly what I used was huge map, 15 other civs, and a 1.67 GHz/512 MB system, took about 40 to 60 hours depending on how many warsI got into. My own record was set on a 866 Mhz/256 MB sustem with one of the 256 x 256 Earth maps from Civ Content, took me 208 hours (!) until I won a diplomatic victory in 1916, I think.

Took me three months of serious playing - every evening 5 to 8 hours - very little sleep - (was a big test to the strength of my marriage). Settings was on most difficult and I had to start from scratch a couple of times. I didn`t use any cheats.
