I need to go to college because you can't get a good job if you don't. I went to morning classes but hated it. I am going to start again in Jan for night classes, but I don't know what to go for. What kind of thing can I go for in the shortest time possible? I am interested in psychology, helping people, etc.

Get the college catalog and list about 20 interesting courses that you might want to take.

Go to the bookstore and look at the books for those 20 classes. Make notes about whether those course books are interesting to you or not.

SIgn up for the courses that have the most interesting course books. Also consider seeing a counselor at college about an appropriate career track for you.

If you're not interested in working hard, then Psychology isn't for you. Getting a Psych Bachelor's is a lot of work, and if you want to open up your own practice, you need a Master's.

If you hate the classes, try branching out a little bit: take the required core classes, but then take a class or two that you might be interested in, but wouldn't normally take. It might help you discover a talent or interest you didn't know you harbored.

Another thing: you don't have to have a college degree to have a good job. Neither of my parents graduated, but we still live in a really nice home, and they have good jobs. So, if you decide college isn't for you, then don't totally give up hope.

Hope this helps, and good luck with college! :)

Well lets list off the careers you can get in those two categories...

Helping people.

Youth and social worker
Health care aid
Doctor
Nurse

Psycology.

Psycologist
Emergency 911 telecommunicator
Kids help phone telecommunicator

Look for jobs in the fields that you are interested in or those ones you listed and maybe just find the one that is right for you. I suggest you get some background on some jobs or careers before you make definite descion on what you want to do.

If you are unsure, I would suggest going to the college that you are interested in attending and visit the career counlser. They usually give personality career tests that can help point you in the right direction.
