well the norm is once every 2-3 months, but there are always exceptions to the rule. 1) if they get dirty more often then not. 2) if they don't get dirty but smell bad then do the dusting bath but even limit that, 3) never never bathe during gestation (pregnant) 4) long hair, short hair, king, teacup, deerleg, standard?. And 5) it is never stupid to ask on the net because you and others who ask a legitimate questions to gain knowledge may find some useful info, so don't be afraid to ask, even some new employees at PETCO don't give the right answers, and vets want $$ for info "well bring them in and we'll give them a checkup to make sure as to how you should bathe them"" Yea keep asking and fear not!!

Soap, even dog soap, can be bad for the dogs skin. I only bath my dog when he needs it, maybe every 3 months or so. if you bath too much you'll dry out the skin, causing the dog to itch and the skin to flake. And you don't want poor little puppy to have dandruf! Puppies are bad for getting dirty! You can still bath him often if you don't use soap, only water is fine as long as he's not smelly....

You shouldnt bathe it more than once a month or so, it drys their skin out leaving it more subseptible to infection. Also, dogs dont really smell bad unless there is something wrong with them, or if they have been rolling in something. If it smells bad consistently tell your vet.

When it either smells or looks dirty and you can't tolerate it anymore. Or if it has fleas, then give it a flea bath. Dogs don't need regular baths...unless of course you feel like doing it.

why do you ask stupid people on the net, and not proffesionals at the petco, or a veteranarian?? its simple, just look them up in the yellow pages, call them, and ask them.
