It's always in the same place and only shows itself if I don't shower for a couple days or more then it gets itchy and I scratch it (I know, gross). It's about 2/3 the size of a penny when I start scratching. But if I scratch it alot it bleeds not real easy but easier than normal. I'm assuming this is a sort of fungus, but what can I do to get rid of it and how concerned should I be? How did I get it? I can't afford a doctor so that's out of the question. Thanks everyone.

It almost completely goes away with soap and water but comes back the moment I start scratching it. It's hard to tell the shape of it (for determining if it's ringworm) because it gets bigger when I scratch it. It's been going on for a couple months now, but has only bled once when I first really started scratching it not realizing what it was, then saw a little blood on my fingers. Since then, I haven't scratched it to the extent of bleeding. I knowingly scratch it every now and then and it sort of flames back up a little more from it.

OK, you can't afford a doctor. How about soap and water? You can afford them, right? It may be a heat rash, but if it looks pretty much round, and slightly raised, with rough flaky skin over it, it's most likely ring worm. Ring worm is a fungus anyone can get, but is most commonly seen in people with poor hygiene. Start bathing more regularly (for yourself and the people who have to be around you). Buy some hydrocortisone cream. They sell it in the dollar stores. It'll stop the 'rash' from itching. It'll go away on its own without any other treatment. Stop scratching! You're dirty and you're scratching opeings in your skin that bacteria can get into.
Sorry if that sounds mean, but it's the truth.

Does the rash look like a ring - meaning the rash is circle shaped, but the center of the rash looks "normal"?
If so, it is ring worm, which is in fact a fungus, similar to athlete's foot. You can buy Lamisil cream at the drugstore.
This spreads easily, and all clothing, bedding, towels, etc that have come in contact with your skin should be washed and sanitized.

It is more than likely the result of an over-active immune response, or a failure of your immune system to respond.
I recommend getting some free advice as to how to go about repairing and maintaining your immune function.
In the mean time;-
Avoid Caffeine and Aspartame like the plague!!!
Avoid plastering yourself with chemicals or taking drugs, these are more likely going to have an adverse effect. Your immune system is probably already overloaded as it is, chemicals will just put more stress on your immune function.
Drink at least 2 litres of fresh water a day (preferably bottled still mineral water). Anyone who tells you bottled water is a hype simply doesn't know what they are talking about.
If you want some more information, it's all free - contact me if you want to know more.
Take Care!

You sound really young and dumb. Take you *ss to the doctor and find out what is wrong with you. You might not have an STD but you could have something that could have, now, turned into something else. Go to planned parent hood. They don't care who you are they just want to help you. Plus if you are a student you might get your medication for free. Do yourself a favor and go.

Have you kept track of how long it's been going on? When I realized I had a rough patch on my face that I kept peeling and moisturizing....after a couple months I knew something was wrong...it was skin cancer. Sometimes they can freeze it for pretty cheep or some doctors will work with you if you have no ins...so go get it checked just to be safe...as my grandma used to say, "If you don't have your health, don't have anything!"

If it is a fungus, it should go away with the anti-fungal. I use Lotrimin or clotrimazole (generic) ointment. However, I am also under treatment for a systemic fungus infestation (candida - yeast), because it can overgrow in imbalanced bodies (I was hypoglycemic, now diabetic).
There is basic information about yeast infestations at www.hufa.org, at the yeast link.
Yeast is in our intestines but does not harm us unless it overgrows. Yogurt is a natural antifungal, among other foods.
