Respect, respect, respect!! One of the main problems here is that everyone seemingly thinks that anyone with different beliefs is stupid or ignorant. In turn that ALL Christians are judgmental and hateful. Either way, if you respect another religions beliefs and values, you respect yourself and your own religion. Doing this is what the forefathers intended, and in return everyone and every belief can be free and happy.

One of the wisest directives of our founders was the separation of church and state. The purpose was to protect the state from extremism, and NOT to protect any particular religion from the government! This nation was not founded on the principles of Christianity as most believe. It was founded on the knowledge of a supreme God, as per the Masonic tenets which form the very foundation of our constitution. There has not been a time in mans history that religion in one form or another did not struggle for political supremacy, nor will there ever be such a time. The best one can hope for is peaceful coexistence or at least mutual detente. I once heard the expression "the smaller the mind, the bigger the religion" and have found that sadly that very often holds true.

Politically, we can. It's mainly to try to be politically correct in all ways. That's how you do it without offending a single religion. Lots of aboloshing things from our money and our sayings and such. It'd be fair though. It's the truth, right? Just stop having the government show a bit of a nod to certain religions.
Those of you who say the fore-fathers were Christian... or wanted the government to be Christian or whatever. Um... ok... but that was a long time ago. Things have changed.
Frankly...... I would love it if all religions are equal in this country. In many ways they are... personally I don't see much offense going on against religions (minus Islam for other political reasons). I guess I don't care... but that's just proving that I am for sure Agnostic.

I'd be nice. I don't see anyone lining up to say "we respect all religious beliefs, even if we don't agree with them".
My problem is the fact that the country is currently run by people all too willing to let the Evangelical Christians run the country.
If everyone could just take a big breath and just realize that people, regardless of religious belief, can be decent, moral people. We would be so much better off.

Acceptance will not come easily, it is very easy to point fingers to Catholic priests as child molesters, Born again Christians as right wing fanatics who blow up women's clinics for performing abortions, Wiccans as Satan worshipers, Asatru as neo-Nazis, Mormons as polygamists, Muslims at terrorists, Hebrew as money-hungry antagonists, etc. Every religion has it's negative stereotype that must be banished if we are ever to get along.

This is hard, lets just pray for that day to happen, with the way the world is it is probably never going to happen. We have to put our backgrounds aside for this to happen and forget the past and start a new future, new page and new begining. I know that is hard to predict to ever happen but really we have to look behind us for every religion to be free and happy or else we will just get worse.

In the USA, people are free to hold whatever religious beliefs they want to. It's up to the individual if he wants to be "free and happy". The government of the USA has done its job--everyone in the USA can choose his faith without fear of a government entity stopping him from that decision. Best way people can "come together" is to support laws that protect one's right to select whatever religion he wants to practise, and fight against laws that attempt to restrict pursuit of religious faith.

All I can think of is the realm of children's television. That way basic human virtues like kindness and sharing which apply to everyone regardless of religion can best be taught.

By its very nature religion is divisive and anti-social. It excludes non-believers because they are considered sinful and going to hell. This is why there are so many sects in christianity and islam.

I'd just be happy if Christians kept their paws out of my pants. Oh yeah, I went there missy.
