When you look at all the atrocities that have been committed in the name of God, you have to wonder how in the world God became a symbol of love at all. Think of the Crusades. Think of the Inquisition. Think of slavery. Black were enslaved because white people thought that being black was a sign of being less than human (a dark skin was the mark of Cain). Think of smaller events, like gay people who have been beaten to death because being gay is wrong. Where did the idea of gayness being wrong come from? The Bible. What about the hypocrisy of activist Christians killing abortion doctors? If you believe that abortion is murder, then killing the abortion doctor is murder as well.
When you think of all these things, it's kind of hard to see how you think that God is a god of sunshine and roses.

I don't think God is a symbol of hatred it's just a matter of people's opinions. And as far as others being hated for using God to get there wants......first if you're a true Christian you shouldn't be having hatred towards anyone and second, people who try to use God for there wants won't suceed at all because God will not be used and give to those who attempt that.

God is not becoming a symbol of hate, Christianity is. The Christian world has nothing good to say about anything or anyone. If you are not with them you are against them. They do not preach love or compassion. They do not help the non-believer. They do not even want to be around them. This is not Christ like. This is not what Christ preached did or said. The Christian philosophy of today appears that if you are not Christian you are evil. By Christian the meaning becomes, not in the club, not going to our church, not hating the non-believer. They kick you out because you sin? If that were Christ like everyone would be kicked out. They hold themselves better than all others.

Osaka,
"Is God becoming a symbol of hate?"
How foolish do you have to be to continue to do that? I wouldn't put myself in that camp!
"I am Christian and have noticed that people are thinking that God is a symbol of hatred rather than love."
Only with those that don't love Him. If I ever catch myself setting against Him, I hope that I continue to tell myself to shut up. Straighten out. Get in line with God's word, stupid man!
"personally I believe that the person who uses God to get his/her own wants is the person who should be hated. what do you think?"
It's attitude. It's the difference between becoming resentful to God if things don't go as expected (which is doubt), or taking a breath and setting yourself in faith and not doubting Him, trusting Him for His promises. The best way is to trust Him, that's a faither! One who keeps his hands to the plow and continues forward.
As far as looking at others, I try not to. If they are closer to God than I am, I am jealous. I want to be as close to God as I can. I shouldn't even be telling you this.

God is love, merciful and forgiving and if you think of hating those who uses God to get his/own wants what is the difference between you and them.

God is already a symbol of hate within my eyes and many others. People to often abuse his image, I sincerely doubt his existence for this reason.

I'm glad you think that way.
People view him as hate because the ones who speak loudest about Him use His name when they talk about their political views.
Therefore, people start to connect very conservative views with God and soon... God is a political tool. I think religion's a fine idea. Gives people something to believe in, something to pray to and something to live for. It's beautiful in many ways. When that tries to invade politics, or the people that call themselves Christians kill people because of race, gender, or sexuality. His image gets tainted.

read the books. they are just as evil and twisted as the osamas and the fallwells. there is a reason that extremists, the ones who are technically correct about the books, are doing evil things.
ditch the books and gods. they were created by man to divide people and discriminate. dont buy into all this "loving god" whoozit. its factually innacurate if you read the books.
peace
