I used to be a hairdresser and have seen some scary stuff with people attempting to do their own bleach jobs. Best advice I can give you, let a professional do it instead. Bleaching goes through 7 stages, and once you have gone beyond the 7th stage, your hair will break off. You cannot use bleach over bleach, or your hair will break off. Make life easier for yourself, pay the extra money now and get a professional to do it and you will look great and feel great. If you attempt any other source by yourself you can end up with horrible/appearance altering results. Stay away from Sun-in, depending on what your color is now, it can turn your hair orange or take forever to even bleach out your hair as it has a very low level of peroxide. Once you have gotten your hair bleached, get good conditioners. Your hair WILL be dry. It is very hard on the hair. Do not color on top of bleached hair with any ash or beige bases, your hair will turn either green or blue. Leave this one to a professional, please.

Listen to daff73. I have had friends call me up with horror stories from trying to bleach their own hair and expecting me to know how to fix it! I'm only in school, but seriously I know how bad it can turn out. I won't even let the other girls at school bleach my hair. I can get it done for basically nothing, but I still go out and spend $90 to get it done by a professional. It is worth it!! DON"T use sun in. It is single handedly the worst product you can use, in my opinion. It is more damaging on your hair just like box color from the store is tons more damaging (metallic dyes do nasty things to your hair) than pro color. You don't have the control over what color it will give you, and because you have to use more, it really will leave you much worse off.
Believe it or not, bleach is a complicated process. You may be able to guess on it and it turns out right, but chances are slim.
You get what you pay for, and something that can so easily be screwed up, is worth the money over the risk. Plus, if you mess it up thing of how much it MORE it will cost to fix it (assuming it can be fix, ever gotten a ''chemical hair cut''...).

Don't use any "home" type products - no peroxide, no sun-in, this will only dry & damage your hair more. Go to a salon, be honest about what you've recently done to your hair - colored, bleached, permed, tried a do-it-yourself product. She/he needs to know this to do a good job on your hair without making it worse. If you have black or really dark brown hair, you will not beable to go too light, your hair will just turn orange or break off - seriously, I've seen it happen. Make sure you use professional shampoo & conditioner, & once a week do an at home hair treatment. Your stylist will know what to do, & what hair products to suggest, go see them, don't do it yourself.

Listen to the two gals before me,don't do it and don't use Sun In. I highly recommend that you don't bleach you hair at all, but if you want it done that bad, have it done in a salon. I've seen chemical hair cuts and it's a nightmare. I've had the gummy hair and bits breaking, not real severe ,but it was still not pretty. Be careful and good luck.

If you use a spray bottle and mix 25% peroxide with 75% water every day, in a few weeks your hair will lighten without serious dryness. Either way, if it gets dry you can discontinue spraying it until it heals.

The safest way to making your hair blonder is to use sun in, although My friend used it and it didnt last but like a month and then her original color started coming back.

Peroxide, (but only for the hair on your head, if you know what I mean.)

no. anything you do to your hair is going to hurt it. but your best bet is to look up hair hair bleachers and i think you may find one. i think there's one with lemon juice. but it won't be huge.
