Many will say that this commandment refers to the taking of oaths or using the Lord's name profanely. Yet it says in Exodus 20 verse 7:

"You shalt not take the name of the LORD your God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain."

Could this not also apply to those who call themselves Christians and practice 'churchianity', yet never really make Jesus the Lord of their life? Wouldn't this also be taking the Lord's Name in vain (or empty uselessness)?

FYI for all - as I was passing through YA and saw a question referring to the commandment and swearing, and as I thought about THAT question, this came to my mind. Not looking to condemn anyone or point fingers, just expand my own understanding of the Bible.

Below I give the definition of the word VAIN:
There is not a true Christian on the face of the Earth that fits into the catogory you speak of in your question.
We adore and praise God, never thinking to blaspheme Him. If ever this were to happen, we would have such a guilt that we would immediatly ask for foregiveness and be foregiven.
You try like your father Satan did in the garden while in the role of the serpent to twist the truth just a bit to allow it to come out tainted and hope someone will bite hold of it.

Christians are on to you and yours. Be very careful getting near one of us for we see you as you really are. You are in the likeness of him who you serve. REPENT.><>

maximum Christians agree that NO human is with out sin. confident, the ten commandments, as all commandments are meant to be accompanied. that does no longer mean that anybody will ever have the means to stay with all the commandments one hundred% of the time. the final we are able to do as human beings is attempt. of path, some Christians do fail to "do away with the plank out of your own eye earlier attempting to do away with the splinter out of your brothers", which it form of feels which you're doing right here. You for sure are not Christian. that's advantageous with the aid of me. yet earlier you attempt to get right into a conflict of wits on Biblical understand-how, you're able to be able to desire to first arm your self with understand-how. i'm going to confess, there are a number of Christians who %. aside their in demand area of the Bible and use it as a weapon against human beings, yet, those are the loudest of minorities interior the Christian faith. they do no longer talk for me, nor (i've got self belief) do they talk for God. God spoke for himself, interior the path of the palms and pens of people who wrote the scriptures. that's as much as you to easily examine, understand, and do your ultimate to conform in line with how the be conscious speaks to you. After analyzing a number of your edits::: you ought to have prefaced your assertion with something alongside the lines of "i grew to become into debating with a coworker, and that i want help understand-how".

No, I don't think they would realise, because they are actually not guilty of anything. The only thing one would be guilty of is over analyzing a text that was written thousands of years ago.
