Only if it is in private, like the restroom or outside.

So running to the restroom with a big booger hanging out is less disgusting?
It's one of those things that not everybody agrees on yet. The days of pocket handkerchiefs aren't too long ago, you know.
It's also not nearly as cut and dry as the other things you are supposed to do in the bathroom.
Not to mention that little portable kleenex packets are sold all over the place; if you were only supposed to blow your nose in the bathroom, then there would be no market for those.
I think it's better than sniffing, and that blowing your nose while eating is much better than swallowing globs of snot..
When will we reach the point where coughing and yawning and countless other normal things will mark someone as disgusting?

I dont know about church, but if I am eating at a restaurant and someone around me blows their nose while I am eating I am totally disgusted! Go to the restroom to do it!

Of course your perfect little nose never runs, so you wouldn't have any idea of what it's like to live with chronic allergies. If I went into the bathroom every time my stupid nose ran I'd spend all of April, May, September and October in there! I take two pills every day, use a nasal spray and usually end up on steroids at least once a year. I'm trying to control my allergies but it doesn't always work out that way. Should I just stay home in a hermetically sealed bubble so that I don't p iss you off or should I go out there and try to live my life as normally as I possibly can? Gee, lemme think about that.
Why don't you take a moment to realize that the rest of us are not here as an accent to your life. Talk about inconsiderate!!

I have often wondered the same thing.
It is understandable that people sneeze, but to blow a nose requires a concious effort.
Nasty thing to do in public. There is no reason a person can't walk away from other people when they need to blow their noses. If it's a checkout clerk or some such thing I would leave on the spot. I don't want germy hands touching me or anything I am buying.

If it's an "emergency" type of situation, I think it's okay for them to do it... but that said, they should try to be as courteous as possible and not be too disgusting. If there's no immediate need for them to blow their nose, and they can wait a minute to travel to a restroom, I agree, they should take care of that in there (and wash their hands afterwards!)

Yeah, I think it's totally disgusting and inconsiderate in a restaurant,I go into the bathroom, but if you have to blow your nose I don't think it's unacceptable in church,no ones eating.

If we ran to another room to do every little thing that others find not nice, we wouldn't get anything done, However, blowing your nose at the table is justwrong, and un hygenic, since you are SUPPOSED to wash your hands afterwards to prevent thespread ofgerms.

i think most people try to be considerate of others when having to put their tissue to the nose or to cough in their hand. but...sometimes...it just can't be helped.
most people i have seen, will excuse themselves and leave the room, if they feel it is a nuiesence(?) to themselves or others.
offer a kind word of, "is there anything i can do to help?" offer a tissue, or some gum, or a piece of candy, or a drink of water. this will help eleviate their discomfort as well as your disgust.
it can't hurt!
