LOL You saw a lot of basic trainees and they are all wearing the same glasses because that is what we get issued when we arrive at lovely LACKLAND AFB. We can choose to buy our own glasses or wear contacts after basic training though. I don't think the military is too concerned with the style of glasses that they provide for us. They go with less expensive.

In what? Tug of conflict? A chess journey? to this point as conflict is going the U. S. militia's approach relies around constantly having air and naval supremacy which provides their floor forces a decisive part. there's a reason the U. S. is in contact in maximum friendly fire incidents. because of the fact they are the only united states of america dropping bombs on a familiar foundation. the U. S. provides air help for each united states of america in Afghanistan and it grew to become into the comparable tale in Iraq. while a British soldier demands air help that's totally ordinarily the U. S. that responds. The RAF would not extremely have the means to furnish air help. It has no longer something to with education. the U. S. has the money to fund a super and totally able air rigidity The British do no longer. that's comprehensible why the many times used British soldier trains longer and greater durable than the many times used American soldier. once you seem at militia means that's extremely no longer a honest combat. The Royal Air rigidity has in user-friendly terms one hundred Air Superiority warring parties. the U. S. has numerous thousand. The USN has 10 distributors that are able to protecting ninety airplane each and the Royal army has none. in case you have been to place them right into a familiar conflict against one yet another it would not be a honest combat in any respect.

They were all wearing BCGs which I'm sure someone has already mentioned. They are issued for people who need glasses at basic or OTS. You are not required to wear them, almost all conservative glasses are allowed by regs, but the BCGs are capabale of taking more of a beating than wire framed glasses.

Military glasses (affectionately known as Birth Control Glasses or BCGs) are issued in standardized frames for two reasons. First, they are relatively tough compared to designer frames. Second, being standardized they are easy to work on/replace downrange by deployed optometrists...one size/type fits all.

Military issue corrective lenses or glasses are made in a "tortoise shell" design. The coloring and designer of the frames are made 1) to withstand shock in combat zones, and 2) are made to help camouflage the soldier/airman in the field. It is common for military medical to issue corrective lenses and give a prescription to the individual to get civilian glasses out of his/her own pockets. At least they are tortoise shell and not the old black frame glasses (We used to call them birth control glasses because if you wore them you were guaranteed not to be able to get a date.)
