I'm having trouble finding Scientific evidence for Intelligent Design, and I want my public schools to teach it, but I need evidence to present to the board of ed. I can't find any scientific data that even hints toward the existence of God....

Any suggestions to what kind of evidence I should present?

Go down the hall past the 'the earth is flat' sign, take a left next to the picture of the 'pre-Copernican Universe', open the window next to the guys 'turn lead into gold', and jump.

Somewhere between there and the ground you will understand that Intelligent Design is not science and is false, because you are too stupid to be part of anything intelligent.

Hey 57chevy -

OK you can save money now. No evolution means that modern medicine is all false, so you can quit wasting your money. In fact, in order to not be a hypocrite you have to avoid all practitioners of medicine.

You are the reason America is the most scientifically ignorant nation in the developed world.

Careful now, don't fall of the edge of the earth.

I guess the jury that is out on evolution is still debating gravity, atomic theory, and Franklin's nutty electricity ideas, none of which has the general explanatory power of the theory of evolution.

You obviously know nothing about science (and you must be aware of that yourself).

But I'll give you a chance.

Here's a very easy question: since the general gravitational equation essentially boils down to the product of the masses divided by distance squared - what does that tell us about lunar effects on human behavior?

Glen Blaylock -

You must be aware that that it is not simply an issue of disproof (and I think it somewhat misses the reject - fail to reject issue, but that's another matter), the issue is whether it is testable - and it's not. It does not belong in the science classroom for the very simple reason that the scientific method is not applicable.

Rightly, science does not even deal with the philosophical possibility unless and until someone puts for a testable hypothesis, and we both know there isn't one.

I wish I could remember the exact data in 4004 BC that someone appended to Usher's determination. It was in October at 9:00AM and, I believe, a Sunday. I'm too lazy to bother to figure it out, but I think that would have been the 29th.

Why did he start right in the middle of football season? And here in Arizona at least, you can't buy beer until 10:00.

YOU can.t find it because it isn't there.
The theory is that the universe is so organized that it must have been created. that is intelligent design.
The don't have a leg to stand on except the great "must have been like that"It's just another tactic of the christian right to install their beliefs in the schools and government.
The theory is that the world can not be but 5000 years old because the bible says so, (but the bible doesn't say so the preacher a few hundred years ago said so.)
Any thing you can find is just more rthetic form the christain right

In order for "creation science" to have any validity, all 42 types of radio-isotope dating would have to be incorrect, in which case the entire science of mathematics and all of the established laws of physics would have to be false as well. Also, the sciences of Astronomy, Geology and Paleontology, to name but a few, would have to be completely in error and all practitioners of these sciences, past, present and future would have to be decietful charletons. Do you really think that this is likely???

You cannot get the evolution faith thrown out of school on the basis of Intelligent design... Intelligent design will come down to the same point of evolution, it is opinion.. The evolutionist are quick to say that evolution has been proven. hahahahhahahaha nada... it has not, it will not, it cannot...but they do have one very big point ... faith man it takes a lot of faith to say that you think that life came from a rock... remember all real science is demonstrable, provable, reproducible... evolution is none of these... but in the same light you cannot say intelligent design is either.. it is opinion.

There is no scientific evidence for intelligent design. It's based only on faith. There is no scientific evidence of god. God is a myth.

There is something that you need to understand about science. SCIENCE PROVES NOTHING. Those who don't understand how science works find this hard to believe, but it is true. In order to prove something true, you have to test every possible situation in which that thing can occur. In order to do this, we would have to first be able to think of every possible situation and, even if we do, we can't be sure that we have not overlooked something. Then we would have to travel to every possible location in the universe to see if it still holds true. Finally we would have to be able to travel through time to see if it holds true throughout the entire universe for all time. Do you begin to see how impossible it is to prove something?

What science really does is try to disprove things. It is easy to disprove a theory. All you have to do is find one instance were the theory is wrong and you have disproved it.

So, what does this have to do with the question? God, by His very nature, cannot be disproved. Any test that you could devise for the existence of God, He could manipulate to give ambiguous results if He does not want absolute proof one way or the other. Let me tell you a story to illustrate this point. A college professor got up in front of his class and said that he was going to prove that God did not exist. He then started railing against God, daring Him to knock him off of the stage on which he stood. He uttered the most vile of blasphemies as he continued with his challenge of God. Finally a big, burley Marine in the class gets up, walked up on the stage, and decked the professor, knocking him off of the stage. When the professor came to, he asked the Marine why he did that. The Marine replied, "God was busy. So, He sent me," and walked away.

This is not a true story, but it still illustrates the point. God could have sent the Marine to knock the professor off of the stage or the Marine could have been acting entirely on his own initiative. Either way, there is no way to prove the true motivation behind the Marines actions. Even if the Marine had done nothing and the professor had not been knocked off of the stage, God could have just chosen not to react to the professor's provocation or He could have caused something else to have happened that would have knocked the professor off of the stage (an earthquake for example). Again, there is no proof that God did or did not do anything. Since there is no way to prove or disprove the existence of God, there is know way to prove or disprove that He had any hand in the creation of this universe.

Now, I write this as a man who does believe in the existence of God and has been trained in science. I know that He exists because I have felt the confirmation of His existence that comes from the Holy Ghost. As such I see His hand in the creation of all that is around me and I know that He did create the universe in which we live. Can I prove any of this? Of course not, but I know it to be true nonetheless. Because this can't be proven, you can't push God's part in creation as a scientifically proven fact. However, I also think that it is wrong to tell teachers that they absolutely cannot discuss the possibility that there was some sort of divine power behind the origin of the universe. Since God cannot be disproved, you can't prove that He didn't have a hand in this either.

BTW, for those that are saying that those of us who do accept intelligent design are just trying to convince people that the Bible's account of creation is literal truth, you are confusing your philosophies. My idea of intelligent design acknowledges that Earth may very will be much older than is indicated by the Bible. We also believe that it science may be more valid in understanding the creation than the strict creationist do. Finally we believe that there still must be a divine creator behind the creation.

Oh, you should also check your facts a bit more closely. The strict creationist point of view is that Earth is about 6,000 years old, not 5,000. There are about 4,000 years of history leading up to Jesus' time and about 2,000 years since then. So, it's 6,000 years.

Nope, there is no such thing as scientific evidence for ID. And please don't bother trying to get it taught..you'd just be wasting our tax money getting it shot down in court again.

Watchtower.org is a good website for bible-based info. There are phone numbers to call with questions; also there is a box you can click on to have a person come to your home for a free home Bible study-- with no obligation, of course.
