I've worked in a bakery...so I'm kindof an authority on pastries I guess. We always serve pie slices, including pumpkin, with whipped cream on the side. Unless the pie had No Sugar Added. So, if you are entertaining any diabetics, give them the option not to have whipped cream.

MMMM.. i could go either way on that one. Pumpkin pie is great alone but with the extra bonus of whip cream it makes it that much smoother. definitely add the whip cream but is thats not an option then plain is good too.

I don't know! I've never had pumpkin pie, I have this fixed idea that pumpkin can make a good side dish for a steak, but as dessert? No way! I can't imagine eating pumpkin for dessert.
I promise I'll try some when I get a chance, and if I do, I would definitely add some cream

I didn't think anybody really ate pumpkin pie. I thought it was like the fruitcake that keeps getting passed from person to person in an attempt to get rid of it by re-gifting. If you must eat one, then I say drown it in whipped cream so you can't taste the squash.

To me, pumpkin pie is used strictly as a vehicle for cool whip.
