They are not accepted in criminal cases because they are not dependable, The results were found unreliable for criminal court years ago.

Lie detector test are unreliable. If a person truly believs what they are say is true even though it is not, the lie detector will most likely show that they are not lying. Also a person could be telling the truth that the did nothing wrong but the results show that they are guilty. That is why the court system will not accept the results from a lie detector test.

Well to be honest with you I don't think that lie detectors are as accurate as DNA. I've heard too many ways to "beat a lie detector" test. So maybe that has something to do with it. There are also instances where an innocent man was condemned because he failed the lie detector test only to be DNA tested and he was not guilty. Something else trigger a negative reading.

POLYGRAPHY IS NOT AN EXACT SCIENCE AND THEREFORE MAKES IT INADMISSIBLE IN ANY CRIMINAL COURT OF LAW IN THE USA. MEANING THE PROSECUTORS CANNOT USE IT AGAINST YOU IN COURT. IT IS A TOOL USED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT IN THEIR SEARCH FOR THE TRUTH IN AN INVESTIGATION.
THE MACHINE IS NEVER WRONG. PERIOD. IT IS THE QUALITY OF THE OPERATOR WHICH MAKES IT INADMISSIBLE. THERE ARE GOOD ONES AND BAD ONES. SOME COULD TELL YOU WHICH TESTS YOU CHEATED ON IN HIGH SCHOOL AND IF THERE ARE SKELETONS IN YOUR CLOSETS AND NAME THOSE SKELETONS. OTHER ONES COULD NOT FIND THEIR OWN BEHIND USING BOTH OF THEIR HANDS. ALSO A NEGATIVE THING IS THAT SOME POLYGRAPHISTS CAN BE BOUGHT FOR A PRICE.
THE BEST MACHINE IS THE VSA (VOICE STRESS ANALYZER) WHICH IS A STEP UP ABOVE THE OLD LIE DETECTORS BECAUSE THERE IS NO ROOM FOR INTERPRETATION. THE SAME TEST COULD BE READ BY TWO TECHNICIANS BOTH FROM OPPOSITE ENDS OF THE COUNTRY AND BOTH WILL HAVE THE SAME ANSWERS. THOUGH AT THIS TIME IT DOES NOT HAVE JUDICIAL NOTICE I COULD SEE IT IN THE FUTURE BEING USED IN COURTS. I HOPE THIS HELPS.

Because a Criminal Can BEAT a Lie Detector Test..... that's why they are not admissible in a Court Of Law! Haven't you ever know someone that just could't tell the truth, even if they knew you knew the truth?

Lie detectors test are largely suggestive. Not only based on what was asked, but how. Some people are more easily intimidated than others, this also skews the results. All in all, not 100% accurate.

"While some people believe that polygraph tests are reliable, there is little scientific evidence to buttress this claim. For example, while some claim the test to be accurate in 70% - 90% of the cases, critics charge that rather than a "test", the method amounts to an inherently unstandardizable interrogation technique whose accuracy cannot be established. Critics also argue that even given high estimates of the polygraph's accuracy a significant number of subjects (e.g. 10% given a 90% accuracy) will appear to be lying, and would unfairly suffer the consequences of "failing" the polygraph. It is interesting to note that, so far, no scientific study has been published that offer convincing evidence of the validity of the polygraph test. Polygraph tests have also been criticized for failing to trap known spies such as Aldrich Ames, who passed two polygraph tests while spying for the Soviet Union."

Lie Detector tests are not reliable. A nation of people watched Jack Ruby shoot and kill Lee Harvey Oswald live on TV. He took a lie detector test and passed.

Oh dear, let's start with this: lie detectors aka "polygraphs" are not 100% accurate. That means, if we were to allow them to help convict people, we would be sending innocent people to jail. Also, this is America and we have a fundamental right to not be forced to help convict ourselves. In other words, if you are arrested, you can keep your mouth shut. Try to think about this one sweetie: there are bad cops out there, there are bad people out there who run the "justice" system. Corrupt, horrible people, including some judges.

Yeh, but its easy to trick a lie detector, If the criminal can truly convince even themselves that they are innocent than the lie detector wont pick it up.

Because we have the right not to say anything to incriminate ourselves (although isn't that what DNA and drug testing do?).
Besides that, lie detectors are not 100% failproof. I'm told that if you are taking a lie detector test and curl your toes tightly in your shoes, you will fail every question and invaidate the test.
