shade is something that protects you from the sun and shadow is a reflection of a persons image.

Shade is what you sit under in the summer time. A shadow is what follows you around on a sunny day. I guess the shade of a tree is really the tree's shadow. Freaky huh?

Shade is the place without direct light and shadow is the shape without direct light. In many contexts both words suit.

shade would be dim light as in shadow is a reflection of shade

No prof me but i reckon shadow is more definite than shade. if that makes sense.
