The first two answers are OK, and mostly true. If you open a red and do not finish it, you can cork and refridgerate it until you are ready to use it again. It will extend that 4 days to about a week and a half. WHen you are resady to serve it again, let it sit out for three hours to become room temp again. White wines such as chardonnay which are sweet, will keep good flavor for up to two weeks.

This may get thumbs down from the wine people but I saw a show on PBS suggesting you could actually freeze wine and it would still be good. I've tried it and it works rather well. Probably not the best for a quality wine but it seems to keep better than after 4-5 days unfrozen.

I find that usually by the 4th day my red wine is starting to taste a little "thick." I never refrigerate it because it isn't supposed to be drank cold. For white wine, you should refrigerate it but it will only be good for about 4 days, too. I think all wines have a funk to them after the 4th day. Hope this helps!

I agree with the top three answers. I don't refrigerate my reds, but do refrigerate the whites. And they tend to last about 4 to 5 days. After that, keep them for cooking. (Refrigerate the reds if you're going to use them for cooking.)

white should be corked & refrigerated; red just corked & kept at room temp. and both will be good for @4- 5 days after being opened.

Refrigerating red wine ruins it.
