Just apply some vaseline or mild medicated oil on the navel folds and rub the surrounding area gently. It should come off eventually.

Don't dig - no scientific or medical proof but housewive's tale always indicated that digging may cause 'wind' in the abdomen.

Yes, it is simply dirt that accumulates there. It could be there from the time you were small until now that you have noticed it. Take a hot bath or shower to loosen it up and try using a small toothpick to bring it out. If it hurts, stop and don't dig too far. You can also use some sort of pulsating device to try and get it out that way, like a sonic tooth brush. Or one of those shower massage heads that you can hold in your hand.

Do you have your bellybutton pierced? Because I have mine pierced and the skin on the inside of my belly button is a dark color than the rest of my skin, I try to pick it off but it never comes off. (I have an inny-outy as I describe it) Sorry if that grosses anyone out.

Is that what you have?

It could be a mole or something. Did you try rubbing alcohol and a q-tip? If that doesnt do it, I would just leave it alone, or bring it up to the Doctor next time you are there.

lay on your back or slightly propped up, and use a mirror and flashlight. Does it feel like a pimple, soar to the touch? If you can just feel it but no discomfort, then just mole. If it is uncomfortable to the touch, see your doctor. They will tell you what it is.

It could just be lint , it does collect there from time to time.
Using a soft cotton bud with baby oil should do the trick to remove foreign matter.

Could it be something actually growing. Possibly need to see your Doc. Any strange bumps, lumps, spots should be looked at.
