I've had lots of cats in my lifetime and I have never had this problem. As soon as I put her in, she jumps right out and she has already done her business in a few places she should not have. HELP!! Thanks......

She wasn't declawed recently, was she? If so, that's more than likely the problem (she doesn't like the feel of it on her feet).

Other than that, it could be the litter you're using. Some cats are very sensitive, and too strong of a smell will put them off entirely.

Make sure she's healthy. An infection can cause pain while eliminating and make a cat avoid litter boxes because she associates the pain with it.

When she eliminates in an area she's not supposed to (this only works with poo), put the poo AND her in the litter box. Gently take her paw and rake at the litter.....this should give her the idea if you do it a few times.

More extreme measures are watching her....and when she starts going somewhere she's not supposed to, spray her with water from a bottle or squirt gun.

Make sure the litter box isn't in an area where she would feel scared or vulnerable. Quiet, low traffic areas are best because cats really like their privacy. If it's in a laundry room, move it somewhere quieter.

And make sure you get the smell out of the other areas. If it's not completely gone, she'll still be able to smell it....and if it smells like a toilet, she'll still want to use it as a toilet. Get an enzymatic spray designed specifically for eliminating cat urine odors.

Good luck!

Confine her to a small area when you are not playing with her and watching her every move, this way you will know where she goes and may get a hint about what she likes in a potty place. You may have to change the type of litter you use, at least for a while. How old is she? Was she used to a different litter? Some kitties have tender paws and won't use the clay litter. Try using something else for a while, I have used torn up newspaper or woodliter something softer. Also some kitties like some people are sensative to smells and don't like the scent of some liters. As a last resort - put her in a crate with the entire floor covered with liter so she has to "go" in liter. Change liter daily. After a couple of days start leaving part of the crate floor clear until you only have litter in the place she uses. Then put it in a box in the same spot.
The ones who demand the most of us usually give us the most in return.

All you need to do is place the cat back into the litter box grab her paw and just slowly make her claw at the litter. If you do this a couple of times a day she will pick it up. Cats are very intelligent animals and it dont take them long till they pick it up. Its garanteed to work she should be doing it by 24hrs if not the days end. goodluck.

Try picking up one of her "no no's" and put it in the litter box- then physically pick her up and let her see it in there place her in the box and talk sweet to her, and every time she messes put it in the litter box and let her see that it belongs in there, check first to see if she has been declawed recently or if she looks like she's in pain when "going" or if the box in in and area that would be uncomfortable for her - like near a loud dryer be persistant about training her and actually take one of her legs in your hand and show her how to cover up her poo as this may stimulate her instincts to cover her mess an she will start to feel the litter and hopefully train herself

Take the kitty outside to a dirt or sand area let her take care of business, and scratch around. Get a cup and scoop it up dirt and all and put it in the litter box. I bet this will work.

Most kittens learn to use the litter box from the mother cat. If taken away to early it is hard to train them. Once they stink up a house they will always use the cat urine areas they set up.

Bummer

I'd try a new litter, maybe something unscented if what you have is scented. If she poops on the floor, pick it up and put it in the litter box and then show it to her. If you still have issues, I'd call your vet and ask them for advice.

Hmm that's strange. I thought the mother cat taught her kittens to use the litter box. At least that's what happened with my kitten.

Put her poop in the kitty litter box and then take kitty back to the box and sit her in the box and move her front paws in the kittylitter box Get a spray bottle and fill it with water and when you see her going to pee squirt her and I hope this works for you....It may be the brand of kitty litter also...Good Luck to you!!

Well, maybe your not useing the right kind of litter. in places she messes up, try to put somthing she doesn't like were the mess was to prevent her from doing it again.
