I've heard that some ghosts stick around because they don't realize they are dead. How can this be possible?

I dunno but thats a good one. I would say I'd have to apply the Descartes Cogito Ergo Sum "I think therefore I am". That the only thing you cannot doubt is that you are a thinking thing. So to assume existance, you have to be able to think?
Another example, I heard a kid ask a philospher in a Q&A session and said " Can you help me, I dont know I really exist"
To which the philosopher asked..."And whom shall I say is asking?"

It is not, Ghost are not dead people. They are demon spirits.
Put on the armor of God and do not call them forth.
The Dead are dead and the dead know nothing.

It's because they still can't figure out if they should be saying "your dead" or "you're dead". In some places the ghosts are standing knee deep in each other, trying to puzzle their way through this conundrum.

It is not possible... if you believe in ghosts that means you have to believe there is more to life after death, then you should figure out that there is a reason there is life after death, and no one is going to haunt you. Again, not possible, and if it is, dont worry about it, its pointless.
