take her to the vet, you can trim her hair around they rectum to help keep the poop off her coat and she won't smells so bad also she is still young enough to start bathing on a regular basis go slow and talk to her. Try to have the water running already before you put her in it and go slow and talk sweet and gentle don't get mad at her if she is a bit frieghtend just talk to her. To get rid of the matt on her rear you can also apply a warm rag and then gentlycomb it out. Get her to the vet hough and have that area with pus looked at untill you can get to the vet put some Neosporin on the area with puss and that will help some. Good luck

give the poor thing a bath in antibacterial dish washing liquid that way if its ring worm it will clear it up. plus fleas hate it. after you do this come back and tell us what the area looks like and ill keep checking on this question ive raised cats all my life and iv got 30 rescued ones now you have some good answers there. i would say

wash it
do add a teaspoon of oil to its food this also helps with fur balls. once you clean it up trim the hair around that area

I had a long haired cat and had to trim the hair abound her rear end. The turds would matt in the hair. Then it would get hard and you'd have to cut them off. If there is pus there, let the vet check it out now. DOn't guess. Or you'll wind up paying a fortune in vet bills later on.

Susan, wash that kitties butt under warm running water and see what's going on there. It could just be matted hair and yes. it will stink. Take care of it now, before it becomes a major problem. When you've got her cleaned up, call a vet - tell them what it looks like and ask for their advice. Good Luck.

My grown cat has the same problem. We jokingly give him a hiney shiney once every few weeks. For some reason if they are real furry they can't clean themselves the way they should. Also if shes' real fat (not trying to sound gross) but she may not be able to get her head down there to clean. We just take a warm, wet washcloth and clean the area.

It is probably feces, known as poop. Clean it off by using a rag and warm water. The water will soften if it is hardened. If it looks or smells funny take her to the vet! AND USE RUBBER GLOVES TO CLEAN IT OFF!!!!!

Have you tried the old warm moist cloth trick? Perhaps your kitten has a dirty bum.

Rub gently.

If there is pus, take her to the vet.

Have you tried to wash her rectum? Wash it off good & look. She might have an infection. Call your vet tomorrow.

Please take her to the vet...it could just be poop stuck in there, but if she smells like urine, she could get urine scald, which will lead to maggots, and her skin coming off...please take her in before something like that happens...I have seen it and it is really really awful...
