I think that the fact that God is generally depicted as male is probably mostly to do with the fact that males have become the dominant gender. I'm sure that if the gender equality scales had swung the other way, God would be depicted as female. What it all boils down to is a method of relating to God - it can be hard for mere mortals to compare themselves to a perfect, omnipotent figure! And since men were dominant, their views have prevailed.

Because during the time that men wrote scripture and holy books were recorded women were considered beneath men. None of these men would or could feature that God might be female, or simply not have a human gender at all. Of course "He" was male, and of course they said that men were created in "His" image. Even in the story of Adam and Eve, a woman was not important enough to consider creating until Adam was in need of a "helpmate." She was a deliberate afterthought even in the stories of creation - again, written by men, because some explanation of her existence had to be told. But to explain it in a way that put her on equal footing with men? That wasn't happening in those days; heck, we're still beating on that door today.

In the New Testament, God is revealed for the first time as Father. And Jesus himself, was of course a man (and God at the same time). But to strictly assign a sex to God is too simplified.

Because of lack of teaching. God is spirit and those that worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. Jn 4:24. Also look at Genesis when God created Adam and Eve. In chapter 1 He created them in His image which is spirit. Only until chapter 2 do we that God formed vessels, breathed life into them. So before they were flesh they were spirit.

I believe in God the Father. In the Bible, it says that all over. Father meaning man. God did say He is the Father. Father meaning a man .

See King James Holy Bible ... God talking to Adam , asking Adam a question ....Genesis 3 : 9 - 11....And the Lord God called unto Adam , and said unto him , Where art thou ? And he said , I heard thy voice in the garden , and I was naked ; and I hid myself . And "HE" said , who told thee that thou wast naked ? Hast thou eaten of the tree , wereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat ? Also Genesis 3 : 16 ... Unto the woman "HE" said , I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception ; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children ; and thy desire shall be to thy husband , and he shall rule over thee...... There are many other examples in Genesis of God being referred to as "HE" !!

God always refers to Himself as male. In fact, I do not believe any angels are ever identified as female either.

To start God DOES NOT have gender. "He" created man (male and female) in "his" own image. The Bible uses "He", "His", "Him" for us humans to understand in somehow God's eternal truth.
