Why do millions of Muslims leave their homelands to live in other countries? If they wish to practice all the"ways of Allah" which includes many, many very unusual practices, why not just live in their own countries where it is considered every day normalcy?
PS, please do not answer with hatred...I am NO racist...never have been.

Rebecca: to answer your question, In other blogs...I have been "jumped on" by so many ppl for an opinion regarding race, so guess I am just defensive now. I should have just omitted the opening of my question.

Noam, yes my ancestors, your ancestors, all of our ancestors left for a new life...I was just wondering about Muslims...they have been leaving in record numbers in the past decade. If, for free speech, as someone says...why not just stay and change their governments to better their lives in their own countries. In other words, in 1776, dirt farmers fought for all of those rights, they did not leave for any other country. Why is it, today, people do not stand up and fight for their rights in their own countries...why do they let others take over and rule. I guess...that is the question.

Well I'm a Muslim and I was born in America. To be exact, Connecticut. I left Connecticut and "immigrated" to New Mexico for various reasons including providing my family with a better life, weather, economic and health reasons.
You need to realize America is billed as the land of milk and honey with streets paved with gold around much of the world. I remember visiting Pakistan when I was a kid and people begging me to teach them English and bring them back to the States so they could get out of poverty.
Most Muslims do not leave their country for the noble purpose of spreading Islam. The leave for economic or educational purposes. We as westerners are accustomed to many facilities that people from many Muslim countries do not have (like clean running water, electricity, education, health care, etc) so they come to the West looking to become more complete human beings.
You should realize that only about 23% of Muslims are from Arab countries. You should also realize that not all Muslims are from another country. There is a vast number of Westerners who are born Muslims (i.e. Blacks and Whites).

Why does any people leave the country they once lived to have a better life.
But not all Muslim have to leave. I was born here in the United Stated. My family actually came over on the Mayflower.
Only a very small portion of Muslims are from the Middle East.

People move to different places because of economic reasons. I live in Kerala, which is a state in India, and most of the people here work outside state or country, many in Gulf Arabian countries. why ? They compare the economic benefits working here and working abroad and migrate if working abroad is better. Same way people migrate to western countries or any other countries.

People move from country to country all the time, we Jews have been shifting from place to place since Abraham, "my father was a wandering Aramean." Sure, I know hundreds of Christians living in Dublin who have come from other countries, and I even know some Christians who have moved to non-Christian cultures. Big dea! And as to Muslims moving away from Arab countries, well that is easy, not all Muslims are Arabs!

There is no denying that they are all leaving a terrible disastrous condition influenced by the tyrany of Islam to a country discovered and founded and largely popupopulated by Christians who have created a prosperous although not perfect but apparently desirous country .

Same reason so many Catholics leave Mexico.
Same reason so many atheists leave China.
My point is, their religion has nothing to do with it. The people in Arab countries are predominantly Muslim. They leave because they want a better life somewhere else.

Many leave for political reasons, opportunity, and education. The reason is the same for Americans. They are not ditching their religions. They just want change.

Same reasons people migrate from all over the world - poverty, war, hope of a better life. Why make it a religious thing?
