Do you mean the Home & Garden TV network (HGTV)? Or High-Definition Television (HDTV)? I do not know who founded HGTV. However, if you mean HDTV, read on...

HDTV in the US was developed by a group of American companies called the Grand Alliance and the specifications were nailed down by the Advanced Television Standards Committee (ATSC). Digital television in the US (which includes HDTV) is called "ATSC standard" because of the ATSC's involvement.

Just so you know, standard definition analog television in the US (and Canada, Mexico, Japan and Korea) is called "NTSC" for the National Television Standards Committee.

Wait, is that right? I thought it was hDtv for High Definition Television. Am I wrong? What is HGTV? I`ve never heard of it. Anyway, I don`t know who invented either of them. Sorry I`m just a dummy but if I had to guess I would say it was a Japanese or Chinese person because they invent a lot of our technology.

It was started by Scripps Networks. The brainchild of Kenneth W. Lowe, now president and CEO of Cincinnati-based E.W. Scripps Co., which also owns the News Sentinel, HGTV has become a household name and spawned a half- billion-dollar company.
