In the modern world we need God even more. Many of the problems in the world today are because people have forgotten God. People are very materialistic. They are not Soul Conscious. People are very busy. Many have no time for God but if it wasn't for God who gave us life and health, how much could we do? God gave us twenty four hours in each day. The least we can spare him is a few minutes. The fact that we are living in modern times does not change our need for God. Suppose a huge tsunami came upon us now. You would see how fast people who didn't pray would begin to pray. Sometimes things are too big for our hands and we have to leave it in God's hands. So we have progressed technologically, we are advanced in everything. If God did not make it rain for a long while and the whole earth was in drought, would we eat money? This earth is just a small speck of dust in the wide expanse of the universe. A comet can come now and kill everyone. If this earth was faced with knowing something like that, mark my words, many people will fall on their knees and pray. We don't know when our last moments will be. None of us is guaranteed to live another second. Oh yes! Another though struck me. In this modern world, weapons are very hi-tech also. The mentality of criminals is not like before. Every day we are not sure to return home safely. We have to ask God to protect us. When we begin to see God in each other, instead of seeing each other as different, then we would have taken the biggest step to becoming evolved. For being evolved or advanced does not have anything to do with the accummulation of material wealth, bu rather, with our actions and relationships towards our brothers and sisters of the world. We all came from God and we all have to go back to God.

Yes. Since the beginning of time, people have included a form of God in their definition of the world and the universe. Although technology and societies change, the basic desires and needs of man do not. If anything, religion is more important now than ever before. We need to know that in a world becoming ever more complictated and dangerous, there is a power greater than we are; watching over us and guiding us in some way. Mankind's need for God will never disappear.

Hi Narayanan a
It's about much more than religion (worshiping). It's about the Gospel. Gospel means good news(good tidings). That good news is about a Kingdom. A Kingdom that is very soon going to take over all world goverments. A Kingdom that is going to have a King. His name Jesus. The world head quarters will be in Jerusalem. Yes worship of that King is very important.
You will know that the Kingdom is near when you see the United States in a huge finicial crises. The soon comming Recession that will become a depression. Watch....in 2007. Have a good day....

It depends on your own visualisation or perception of RELIGION.
A good many are unable to distinguish or draw a line between Religion and Spirituality. There are religions in legion, but there could be one single Spirituality. Being Spiritual is to become a seeker of ultimate Truth. In that sense, spirituality is transcending religion. It inquires into the purpose of why U and I should be born. It inspires one to achieve the ultimate goal for existence of mankind. Whereas religion, in my understanding, is a way of life, setting to the followers rules, regulations, obligations etc . May be it helps one to gain the spirituality..
Spirituality is a goal. To be spiritual is not to become irreligious but to go beyond it.
So, if you ask whether religion is important, in the modern world, no.
On the other hand, if you have in your mind, whether spirituality is important, I must say yes.

No. I would say that most people rarely think about religion except on Sundays (or whatever day they worship on) and when they show up somewhere like this. In the past, people went to church just about every day or risked being branded a criminal. Not praying before dinner or eating the wrong things could get you killed. Nowadays, no one much cares one way or the other what people do as long as it is in the privacy of your home and doesn't hurt any one else.

religion is never important - what is important is faith in Christ Jesus - a spiritual belief in Christ. Religion causes division, heartache, greed, misleadings, but faith in Christ is from and through the Soul and that is so very different and so necessary and it is only one way and the only way - as there are only two spiritual ways - the good that is of Christ and the evil that is of Satan. So many religions are encumbered with man's view point and no spiritual basis at all, and that is totally unnecessary to who we are as humans - we are spirit beings, we're here only for a time in this fleshly capsule, but the spirit is eternal.

Definitly. Religion governs most things whether you like it or not. Take a look at the current world conflicts.....Take a look at this website, of course religion is important or people wouldn't fight over it so much.

Religion and faith are more important today than perhaps they ever were. We are living in the end times people and we must remain ever vigilant that when Jesus comes for us, we are not left behind. Now is definately the time to choose whose side you will be on and cling to that fervently.

We are still people with a need to know and love God. It's in our nature. There is nothing new about the "modern" world to negate that.
