The need to go to church stems from the need for Christian fellowship and renewal or reaffirmation of the word. It is not necessary to attend a church but for some people the spiritual guidance they feel they are getting is important to them. I, myself, choose to read the bible at home, pray to God in my home, worship with my children in my home and ask God to guide me in getting the correct understanding of the word.

No, you don't have to go to church to get the word of the Lord any more than you need to go to school to learn. Church is just a way for Christians to be in fellowship with other Christians. I went for many years without going to church, but still considered myself a Christian. I knew so few Christians in my everyday life, however, that I felt the need to start going to church to be around others with the same beliefs. Definitely not a requirement, though, if it's not your thing.

No, you don't HAVE to go to church to get the Word of the Lord, it's the Bible that contains the Word, but the church is to be a place of fellowship and a place to share one with another of like faith in Christ and to be of an encouragement to one another. If your current church isn't meeting these needs in your life, then you might need to ask Christ if there is a church move you need to be making.

you get the word of God from the Bible, you get fellowship of other Christains at Church.
And you need to change churches if it is a fashion show, blue jeans and pull over shirts is the norm in our church. I think one person had a tie on today and he was the music minister.

Huh? That's not even the reason one goes to church in the first place.
And if your church is a fashion show, why haven't you switched yet? I would. Why attend where you feel so uncomfortable?

I do understand the fellowship of going to church...but in my opinion you do not need or have to attend church to have God in your life.....believe in God, be as good of person as you can be...when we do wrong ask God for forgiveness....not that because we can be forgiven for sins and/or misgivings, doesn't give us the right to go and sin because we know God will forgive us......I have my own reasons why I don't attend church...the fashion show comment you made is one reason...If I am not comfortable with a church that I have attended then I do not return...I have not been a member of any church in many, many years...I ask God for guidance and pray I can be a good example to my children and to other people as much as I possibly can....one thing I feel I have the hardest time with is to not curse....I get infuriated at someone, because of ignorance...and mainly lately on here I have said a few harsh things....but I don't believe saying, damn, hell, sh!t, or similar, but not really much worse is not as bad as some things I could be saying....after a few answers I gave, if I feel the question or any answers, possibly give me the feeling of being outraged...that question doesn't deserve the time for me to answer it....I am in no way saying I am anywhere close to perfect.......regardless of ones beliefs.......NO ONE IS PERFECT.......Period!!!....and I don't condemn someone of any religion...or someone who attends church...I know God is in my life and many other peoples lives as well....too many things have happened to me that if he was not in my life I would not be here today......near death experiences.... more than a few....other things also.....God is in my life whether I go to church or not.....Every day!!!.........God Bless you girl..... hang tight and God knows all you feel and think.......he is with you.......

You need to find a new church. Coming together to worship shouldn't have anything to do with fashion my friend.

It is true that many are invalid and confined to facilities or homes and cannot attend Church on a regular bases. Yet most Churches or ministries go to them. As children of God we need to assembly ourself together in worship and praise of God. Unity
is strength. 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to show thyself approval.
Not many people are able to read the Bible and get a full understanding of God's word. Translation changed from langauges -thus the true meaning is lost in many verses.
All Man made Churches don't provide truth. Yet many do and we seek out a house of worship that does follow the Holy Gospel.
Together we make a life-separate we make a living.
Your witness or testimony in assembly make lead others to Christ. Wisdom is understanding the word of God and that discernment exceeds just knowledge. Many (like professors, hypocrites) teach God's word without actually living it.
That according to Book of James is a double minded person.
Not to be trusted. Gal 6:2 tells us that to fulfill the word of God we must share each other's burdens. If we are able-then God expects to see fruits of our labor-that shining light that tells all we are not ashamed of being children of God-true believers. Matthew
5 tells us to salt-season the word. Laborer are few-the harvest is plentiful. Lets strive to sow the word that other may reap the benifit and gloru-joy of salvation. Jesus did the will of his Father, he died on the cross to pay our sin debt. Take up the cross and follow me he said. John 15 says we are ordained-to spread the gospel. The more we study with each other-the more we learn and can apply. Many don't know scripture and can do much harm with false statements. A local Church is fellowship with God's children (singing and praise) and God said, "when two or more come together in my name- I AM in the midst of them". Fellowship with God is also fellowship with his children.
Jesus gave us two new commandments which actually merged the Ten Commandments.
Love God with all your heart, soul and mind
and love your neighbor also as you love yourself. (Matthew 22:34-40).
The Grace of Jesus Christ forgives us-we likewise must return and show that loving grace to others.

I went to a Bible study this morning and we discussed exactly this. Plenty of reasons -- fellowship, a chance to worship, learn, give of yourself (stewardship), and if you're interested in fashion, then you already have a reason! Just kidding on that last one, come on out and join the rest of us sinners celebrating the risen Lord.
