gel...hardens on hair, leaves wet look, can flake in hair(bc of alcohol content)
mousse...adds volume to hair (light and fluffy)
hair spray...hardens on hair but with just a mist (like spray lacquer)
creams...holds hair in place without getting hard
pomade...holds hair in place with high shine
wax...leaves hair very pliable but with no shine

hopes this helps ya!!!

Hair gel:
Holds the position of the hair to keep it straight, curly, wavy, etc.

Mousse:
Provides more bounce and volume to your hair.

Hair spray:
Basically like hair gel, holds the position of the hair. But then, you can just spray it on and don't have to touch it to ruin the hair.

Well you can't really curl your hair with hair gel, like mouse does. Hair gel and hair spray keeps all the hairs down when they are up in a ponytail. And mouse keeps your hair curly when you have a purm and even when you don't it helps you curl your hair.

the chemicals that are used to make each vary slightly...gel is a gel...dries with a residue on the hair and hardens....mousse is much lighter and a foam and has more alcohol in it to dry faster..can be light to super strong hold...hair spray is a liquid, contains the most alcohol and it used mostly for hold only...not for styling...
