No, I'm not asking who influenced or changed the world the most, although those may also apply to this individual, but who did the most for mankind's benefit. Please give some detail as to how they did this, not just a name. Thanks.

Buddha the enlightened one...I am talking in term of my religion.
Buddha did help mankind ends suffering and obtain happiness...as a human being, we have a lot of suffering ( leaving our love ones, sickness, old age and death)...

He is like a doctor,
He knows what type of common disease we human faces== he knows how terrible our life is.
He invent a lot of medicine to help human ==he teaches us a lot of method to end suffering.

As a human being we have committed lots of killing/crime/war...
so how do we end these suffering if we still commit evil deed? No one wants their love ones or himself being killed, right?

Happiness don't come from nowhere....happiness comes from the good deed we done from our heart...ask urself this question do u feel happy after u have help the needy?
Human wants happiness in their life most. Even if u are a millionare but u don't enjoy good health, good life what is the point right?

In my personnel point of view, I think that happiness in life or should I say happiness in the heart is more realistic now, than going to heaven in the future which is next.

so Buddha invented Happiness to help mankind ...

It's a toss up, and it's unfair you make us pick just one :)

Gandhi - he showed that peaceful resistance can be successful.

Martin Luther King - his love transcended color. His words moved a generation forward.

Jesus (if you believe) - he taught forgiveness, diversity, compassion. He extended a hand to those in need, not those in greed.

Alexander the Great - linked cultures and peoples, making isolated societies part of a greater community.

Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama) - for teaching that people can become enlightened and human kindness breeds human kindness.

Louis Pasteur, who found that germs caused so many otherwise unexplainable things.

I could think of more, but you wanted just one. All those and many more have all acted to improve the lot of mankind as a whole.

... My answer is Jesus of Nazareth, the Lord Jesus Christ. ONE SOLITARY LIFE
...He was born in an obscure village. He worked in a carpenter shop until he was about thirty. He then became an itinerant preacher. He never held an office. He never had a family or owned a house. He didn't go to college. He had no credentials but Himself.
...After preaching three years, the public turned against Him. His friends ran away. He was turned over to His enemies and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While He was dying, His executioners gambled for His clothing, the only property He had on earth. He was laid in a borrowed grave.
...Nineteen centuries have come and gone, and today He is the central figure of the human race. All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, and all the kings that ever reigned have not affected the life of man on the earth as much as that ONE SOLITARY LIFE.
..."And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name given among men, by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12

I do not know every individual who ever lived, so I cannot answer this accurately. Out of those that I know of, Siddhartha Gautama the Tathagata, He founded a religion that has promoted peace for many years.

Jesus Christ helped the world (that He created) the most by giving sinful men, women, and children access to God... He did this by offering Himself as an atoning sacrifice, bearing the wrath of God for everyone's sins, thereby allowing us to become children of God - those of us who believe in Him... No other man has ever come close to ANYTHING like THAT...!

It looks like you're fishing for the answer "Jesus"

Don't get me wrong, the guy had an amazing message... and when people actually start following it we might get to see some benefit.

Until then, I can't give you the answer you're looking for.

Jesus. He came to this earth and gave voluntarily and freely his life on the cross and shed His precious blood for all the world, so that all the world could be saved. All they have to do is accept what He did for them. What more of a benefit could you ask for?
